Just to clarify, it says this:

"....increase its national HD channel count from 76 to 100 in 2008."

So long as they launch them by December 2008, they didn't lie.

By the way, is it necessary to quote the entire first post twice for your short responses ?

Quite aware of that wording. I don't think end of 08 will be good enough to protect Dish's dwindling marketshare. Didn't intend to quote on both. Sorry.

Just like D*, E* counts the HD RSN's in the total HD count. The difference is that D* has put most of their HD RSN's on CONUS (at least for now) rather than spotbeams like E*.

What ever happened to the locals that were announced back in 2006 at CES to be launched in 2006. Still waiting for the Providence. I use OTA but would like to be able to record two locals in HD at the same time. Plus a lot of people really do not want to mess around with OTA.

So much for quality in picture. I wish my eyes weren't 20/20 because there is nothing better on the market than Dish Network's 622/722. Sorry Charlie, but your visually enabled customers can't take yet another year of DishHD-Lite.

Off to FiOS I go...three days and counting.

I counted all the channels that I think will be in the essentials hd pack and I get 18 . IF you add Usa & Sci fi in hd it would come up with 20, SO I think we will see those two by Feb. IF you want Discovery, hdnet, hdnet movies, Universal hd , Mhd and of course the ever popular VOOM channels you have to pay another 10.00 . I will be dropping down to the dvr advantage for top 250 + Hbo+ 10.00 hd pack and save on my bill about 28.00 a month. I have seen ALL the voom shows a 100 times over. I rarely watch Universal, Hdnet or Hdnet movies. The only show I did watch on Hdnet was Torchwood but I can see it on BBc America in sd. SO THanks to DISH for making my programming choices a little cheaper.

By what standard do they think they are the leader in HD? They're currently behind the curve on channel count, behind the curve on HD LIL's, quality is subjective so I won't argue that point yet, and they cost more than their direct competitor so value is a wash.

I have not heard anything other than speculation that NY would leave CONUS.

If that happens New York will loose 50% of its current "residents".
