Great, but a short recap/summary would be good too !

I was going to try to listen and recap. 8 minutes in, Charlie said something bout "Being more aggressive with pricing in this economy". I turned it off, lest I throw something through the monitor.

How is jacking up DVR fees...the one thing they can control 100%...being aggressive with pricing? Well, it is being aggressive, but the wrong way. "Remember when I gave you that deal? Well, now I want an extra $60 a year. No you're not getting anything more for that. What, you gonna cry about it?"

Seriously, DVR fees are not that far from a mob protection money scheme. "Oh, you paid $500 for this DVR? It would be a shame to see it get broken. Give me $6 and I'll make sure nothing happens to it. I'll be back next month...better have my money.

I've been a Dish apologist for years, but I am so angry with them this year. I feel like a beaten wife with no place else to go but another guy who beats me slightly more.

Try paying Verizon FiOS's $19 per month DVR charge, and see how you like that. They all rape our wallets, in one way or another. I don't think Charlie or any of the other males running the cable or sat companies are any worse or better.

Now, with Dish, I, at least, get what I never got from my other options: no major interruptions of service; more of the HD channels I prefer and more total HD channels; superior DVR with the superior archival rights; superior customer service (they still need to improve on that); technology that allows for several HD channels being viewed in different parts of the house at the same time; 2nd TV support via RF allowing access from other rooms in the house; superior upgrade offers; a discount on my bill just for recommended new customers; overall, handily, the lowest price--bottom line--for my demanding needs and desires, and I spend way too $$$ on TV.

Now, let me be clear, if the competition can offer all that, at a competitive price, then I'm outta Dish orbit and on to the superior provider. When FiOS comes to my neighborhood, I will be evaluating it very closely. However, in its present form of packages and prices (especially their outrageous HD DVR monthly charge), it is far more expensive than Dish for not much better service.

But if you are that angry about it, the best way to let Dish know how you feel is to cancel your service. That is really the most effective way of telling a company that you don't care for how they do things. Stop giving them you $$$ if you have that much anger about it. Make a competitor more wealthy. Why would one still choose to give money to Dish for such terrible DVR fee policies?
