Wow. I did a few Heath kits, including a couple of H89s (that I souped up). Don't think I would have wanted to build a TV like that!

My dad had an old RCA tube set but it had the 21" round tube. He was still using it when we sold the place and contents in 2009. Don't know what the new owners did with it. Dad had a big box of tubes in the basement he would replace when they went bad. Amazing the capacitors never went bad. They don't build them like that anymore.

The SINGLE speaker is directly below the channel tuner section.

You would have thougt they would have put one on both sides, they had room, but they didn't.
we had one at our house for the longest time...I was too young to remember if the drawer came out...i will vouch for the heaviness though.

I remember back in the day going to Walgreens with my Dad to use their "tube tester" to check our tv tubes when the console went on the fritz. Used to be great to be able to fix your own tv most of the time by replacing a tube. They sure don't make 'em like that anymore. Stuff now is made to break and with the price of cheap electronics nowadays, it's actually cheaper to buy new than fix the broken one.

When I bought the current house, there was one of these sitting in the family room that they offered to leave behind. I declined Unfortunately, they didn't offer to leave the Victrola that was also there.
