Thread: New Screen for FP 3D?

Someone over at AVS posted this:

"If your 3D projector uses the polarizing technique, a normal white screen will not retain the polarization...thus the need for the specialized screen (one that retains the polarization)."

Wonder if this is true?

Not interested myself. Thought maybe others that are planning FP 3D would be.

Light reflected from most screens tends to lose its polarization to some extent.
Silver or aluminized screens don't have this problem.
Of course, this is not an issue if you use 3D with shutter glasses.

There is one JVC 3D projector ( polarized) that was shown at CES. It looked equally as good as the Panasonic plasmas on 3D but yes, it does require a special screen and the PJ is rather expensive.

Consequently, my plan is to mount a flat panel 3D monitor on the wall just behind the roll up FP screen. The new 3/4" thjck 55" screens will work perfect for my room. While I'm used to a 120" diagonal switching to 55" Diag will necessitate sitting closer for good impact. For 3D it is also important not to sit too far away.
