The HDMI standard just got a lot more powerful, with new capabilities designed to push the boundaries of the High Definition experience – in the home, on the go, and wherever HD is found. Here are some of the major enhancements introduced in the HDMI Specification Version 1.4:
HDMI Ethernet Channel—integrated 100 Mb/sec. Ethernet connectivity
Support for 4K and 3D displays
Audio Return Channel—the ability to send audio data upstream
HDMI Micro Connector for portable devices
Automotive Connection System for in-car distribution of HD content
Expanded color space support for digital cameras
Automatic selection of viewing mode based on content type
