Nature is the ultimate filmmaker - Tank HD brings home the soothing beauty of underwater worlds. The Amazon, Pacific Reefs, West Coast Tidal Pools and more, all in stunning HD so you can see every swaying kelp, floating sea turtle and other elusive inhabitants.

 I can't believe I actually spent 3 straight hours watching it yesterday! I didn't even watch my own salt water tank that long at a stretch when I had it!! It was great! :)

I think MOOV-HD is a neat channel. If there is nothing on and it is too late to start a movie, but too early for bed I'll put that channel on. No mater what is on it is generally relaxing. I spent an hour the other day watching it snow in somebodys back yard. I hadn't seen Tank yet, but I saw it listed yesterday.

This all reminds me of those really old movies when "moving pictures" was new and people would just film people going in a factory, people walking, people getting on and off of trains, etc... It's like we're all doing it again :)

Oh, man I just turned it on!!! This is cool. Right now it is jelly fish. You can actually see the small one celled and few celled organisms floating around!!!!!!!!

Yes, I know this is a stupid idea, but I found it to be strangely engaging and entertaining...at least for 20 or so minutes. What else can I say? It Tanked!

Bravo Zulu from those of us who are so easily amused. :D

It's too bad the PQ was not up to par, this could be a cool clip. I'll say it again, comparing this clip to an OTA HD kids news show where they went to an aquarium is no comparison, Voom needs to up the bandwidth.

I wrote VOOM and requested that Tank HD go 24/7 instead of just 3 hours a day. This stuff is hypnotic. Tonight I'm going to see if my cat likes it.

I wonder if VOOM is just testing the content and will unveil Tank HD as a full channel on the new satellite. I like how they put the Common Name, Scientific Name, and some info at the beginning and end of each tank.

It has me reeling with ideas. The broadcaster in me says to build WTNK-TV "The Tank" :D

That would be great if they would make the clip live or a few hours long, but it's only a 30 minute clip repeating from what I saw.

All I can say is, if it's not up to par, so what, it's more than good enough for me, quite beautiful, in fact....
Where do you get OTA HD kids news, I can't even get OTA HD news...

undefinedundefined Moov HD TANK

To say I'm impressed with Moov 's TANK is an understatement

It's nothing less than HD Eye Candy I very impressed with Voom's HDN

As well, A World News Channel that accents Good News and does a great

HD photo expose of something beautiful and different every day. :smug

Even though I have the additional 10 Pack of HD Movie channels I'm getting

more into Voom's 21 Unique HD channels :yes

I hope they expand the TANK Concept , it's fantastic :rainbow

Our local OTA NBC used to show a demo loop during the day and weekend and there was a clip from an Ohio station that had the first HDNews for kids, it was pretty cool.

Please don't have the attitude of "It's good enough for me". If everyone thought that way, Voom would never address their PQ issues. :no

I'd like to invite you over to my house and show you the difference between good HD and Voom. I was watching HDNET last night and when I switched over to Voom, it's like I put a piece of Saran Wrap over the lens of my projector, the PQ went South very quickly.

Yes I also said this would be great to see as an HD segment. Moov should do more of this!! About the PQ...Voom will be better off when they switch over in October to WM9 and then new sat. Some of the ch's look great to me on VOOM and really some dont. Something like MOOV should look fantastic all of the time. Since it is filmed with HD cameras ....HBOHD often upconverts which to me shouldnt look as good. VOOM could be great but they have to increase the bandwidth to their HD ch's. Actually I wouldnt mind at this point if VOOM dropped all of their STD ch's and just left us with the HD. I know that they arent going to do that...but I wouldnt mind.

DarrellP

It doesn't make sense that the PQ should vary so much from one HD channel to another. MonstersHD looks great to me all the time, not as good as HDNET, but much better than what I've seen in the past from HBO or Showtime (I'm not currently a VaVaVoomer). If they have preallocated all channel slots, would they not give each HD channel the same bandwidth? A show like Tank should really shine since there is very little dynamic action going on. Even at 12 Mbs it should look good but it doesn't, it falls flat. Why? That's my question of the day.

vinnyv07
07-07-2004, 10:54 AM
I think it really depends on the source of HD. MonsterHD does look great most of the time. But, I saw the HIlls Have Eyes on Monsters and it looked very bad. Transfer wasnt good . As far as Moov...yes it really should look great at all times...but it doesnt...why? that is a good question. Could they be taking the Hd from different sources? Discovery looks good most of the time also...but not all of the time. Maybe it has to do with the way its produced.

If they're going to choke to bandwidth somewjere, it might as well be MOOV IMO.

My cat keeps wanting to lay on my lap instead of watch. He will take a little interest if I hold him in front of it, he's 13 and if it's not food or the litterbox he isn't very interested :)

Tank HD has actually started repeating. I've now seen all the 15 minute Tanks twice. There are about 36 of them. It doesn't seem to get old as I see things I missed the first time around. I like the Blue Blubbers. They are the neatest looking things. I can't believe people actually eat them.

vinnyv07, I agree somewhat. The computer generated art is borring, but there are a few neat things on there like the birthday cake with so many candles the icing catches fire and the time lapsed snow storm. I can't believe I actually watched it snowing in someone's back yard for a half hour. Perhaps in the winter we will see beach scenes :)

Just think. If Tank doesn't tank but is a success we could have other channels: Fireplace, Raingutter, Grazing Cattle, Paint Drying, etc.

Seriously, I like MOOV some of the time but then I just watch it some of the time. Equator and Rush are my favorites.

**DarrellP: PQ depends on what you are watching. Last night Equator (Forrest, Butterfly stuff) looked better than Discovery or HDNET.

Your cat loves it and so does my 2 year old son.....I couldnt even count how many times he said "fishy". Anyway...Voom should do a Yule Log like WPIX does during the winter months. Or maybe a snowman melting or something.

I was thinking about the same, but a bit more entertaining.

VOOM promotes it as "The Four Elements"

Earth=HD footage of strip mining equipment moving and blowing up the earth.

Air=HD footage of weather around the world

Fire=HD fireplace cams. To make it interesting add chemicals and guess what color the flames become.

Water=We have that one it's called TANK :)

:D At least if you miss it it will be on again, and again, and again.

New Promo:

"HD Cinema 10 if you miss it don't worry it will be on again and again and again........."

Darrell, You should know by now Earth, Wind and Fire won't be on RAVE, they will snatch Peter, Paul, and Mary from Soundstage. Speaking of RAVE it should have the Fleetwood Mac concert that was on PBS-HD last month in a couple years :)

Its almost 10pm and its on. :)

This is the first time I have seen it. Don't care for the sound. I wish it sounded like a real fishtank complete with the buzzing pump. :D

The picture looks very good although the could use some more fish, most of the fish I am seeing are little blue ones.

Sean Mota

They had bigger ones in the previous segment. Do you use those ugly things moving in the sand. I confused them with plants until they started moving.

Scott Greczkowski
07-22-2004, 09:55 PM
It would be great to see some redneck come along and try catching one of the fish. :)

The blue fish that are on now are very common in the bahammas, I have gone snorkling a few times there and always bring a loaf of bread with me, all the fish come up and eat out of your hand. :)

I am going again in October and can't wait! (I am also spending a day with dolphins which I am really looking forward to!!!)
