I voted for E*. I think they will announce something tonight in the Charlie Chat.

I wouldn't be surprised if D* doesn't add anything else until the MLB network is ready to go which I think is January 1st.

I say Directv will add something Wednesday and DISH on Friday.

I THINK E* will get the jump this time, although I hope I am wrong and D* adds something this week. More than likely we are done until Jan.

FiOS has added about 8 more HD channels on the guide - all have the tag 'coming soon'.

They are now offering 103 HD channels on the system. I have D* as well - but FiOS is blowing them away in everything but sports right now by a large margin.

I vote that Dish will be the first to add more national HD.

I'm just guessing here but it seems after the charlie chat last night that dish might not add any further national HD. so i'm guessing that since dish isn't doing anything , direct is going to sit on their hands too.

I have enough HD. I wish D* would STOP and focus on picture quality. Of course thats been the problem for a long time.

E* not adding any HD bums me as much as the E* guys because of just what you said. If E* doesn't add anything, then D* has no motivation to add anything. :(

It seems that most all of the "new" HD channels are just SD unconverted.
Also there seems not too be many new HD channels anyway so why does it matter?

I guess this increases the odds.

That option is not posting:p

If anything I think the added option should be "none of the above"

A poll where everybody picks the same option is no fun. So I'm glad you didn't include that option. :p

Looks like no new national HD on DirecTV based on Satelliteracers post at DBSTalk.Com - View Single Post - What Happened to New HD Rumor (http://www.dbstalk.com/showpost.php?p=1916008&postcount=33)

"No new HD in 2008.

1/1/2009 MLB Network will launch

About a week later you'll see another channel launch.

Another one that was supposed to go up in December got delayed until March because they aren't ready yet with their infrastructure, but that's coming.

Others are scheduled in early 2009, but 2008 is done for national HD launches. Some more local launches coming up in January as well."

Depressing news.

Judging from the Charlie Chat I'd say E* is done for the year as well, Except for very few locals.

i learned in sept. not to get all hyped up over these rumors. we were waiting with great anticipation for D11 to go on line. "by september we should have quite a few national HD launches" many said .when that didn't happen i decided not to put any more weight on these rumors.more rumors came up that it would be in Oct then in Nov and so on. i'm still a little disappointed but i don't feel as bad as i did back in Sept.:( I'm still happy I became a D customer early this year and i'm hopeful things will turn in our favor.

Well, we now know the answer is Directv.

Neither company is adding any more HD in 2008.
Directv is adding MLB Network on 1/1/09, Dish is not carrying it.

Not that I read every post here, but I can't remember anyone complaining about picture quality in quite a while, certainly not since the hd channels went to mpeg4. What channels aren't up to your standards?

I was going to ask that too, but I took into account that Vurb has long said the PQ wasnt that great. Before and after the swap. That said I am curious what, in his opionion, is the problem.

having had both services i still find D's pq better and honestly i'm quite happy with it.
