DISH Network - 1.888.825.2557 (http://www.dishnetwork.com/compare/default.aspx)

While most of this is true, they left out some key points that customers would want to know. They are also wrong about a couple of things.

There IS a 30 second skip on the D* boxes. Also wasnt there some 1080p content offered on D* recently via VOD? It may have been a beta test, and I may be wrong, I just thought that was the case.

Edit: those D* prices arent accurate for the first year either.

LOL.

Industry *exclusive* 30 sec skip? That's a laugher. Most DVRs have it, Tivo had it long before Dish ever had a DVR. And yes, DirecTV has had it for a couple years now.

And yes, they are incorrect in that DirecTV does have 1080p movies from time to time.
And their stupid marketing of the "only 100% HD package". Please.

Talk about a B/S comparison.

DirecTV = More HD channels
DirecTV = Exclusive MLB Season Ticket + HD and NFL Sunday Ticket + HD.
DirecTV = Great PQ.

1080p is b/s no provider can do that yet other than FiOS.
THey have On demand services for HD at 1080p, if you compare both pictures on a BD or HD-DVD, the PQ is far inferior.
Dish Network and their 1080p...lol

Yeah, but they didnt really attack any of the points you posted.

I wont jump on them for the fact that they claim 1080p, other than the fact that they say D* doesnt do it. The fact is that NO service will offer blu-ray quality (even fios) yet. Other than that, no problem with either service offering 1080p and claiming it.

On a side not, does Fios offer anything in 1080p?

There IS a 30 second skip on the D* boxes.

Wait a minute.
Are you saying D*'s DVRs can do 30 second "skip" just like E* VIP622/722?

When I press the 30 second skip button on my HR22 remote, a progress bar is displayed on the screen and then I will need to wait 2 to 5 seconds before HR22 "fast forward" ahead 30 second. And if I press the 30 second skip button 8 times consecutively to skip 4 minutes of commercial, the HR22 box will also display the number of times the button is pressed and then I will need to wait 15+ seconds for HR22 to fast forward 240 seconds. And the more times I press the skip button, the longer I have to wait.

On the other hand, when I press the 30 second skip button on my VIP722 remote 8 times consecustively, VIP722 instantly skips over 240 seconds. No waiting.

So to me D*'s HR22 has a "30 second fast forward but you must wait" button while E*'s VIP622/7222 has a "instant 30 second skip" button.

There are two modes on the HR series. THe 30 second slip, which you are using, and a 30 second skip, that I was referencing.

Its been a while since I activated mine, but best I remember its something like

Go to Menu > Search for Shows > Keyword
Enter in “30SKIP” in the search area and hit “Continue”

For MRV, 30 slip has problems. Best to use 30 skip.

It's good to know HR2X can do 30 second skip too.
Now if Direct will make the HR2X operate as fast as VIP722.
I like the 722's faster menu and much faster guide with 3 hours of shows listed on screen at once.
