That looks like Panini's Bar and Grill restaurant establishments of Ohio. (http://www.paninisgrill.com/). And I have to agree, those sandwiches are delicious!
It's just eerie how alike they are.

YUCK CITY!
Sorry, coming from an Italian/Irish family it just seems wrong to put ketchup tasting chili on pasta.
Have you ever tried Skyline? I thought the same thing until I gave it a try, now I'm completely sold.

Sure is. I bet whoever opened Panini's had one of those sandwiches in Pittsburgh and brought the recipe back to Cleveland.

MMMMMMM... Italian Beef! I miss that. They don't have it here in CT. I used to work at Portillo's when I was in college! :) Last time I visited my family, I went to Potbelly's, and it was ok, but I wasn't that impressed.
Have you ever tried their chocolate cake? MMMMMMMM
PG
which portillos did you work at???
I have been to almost all of them

Am I the only one that loves Panera Bread (http://www.panerabread.com/)? They're in 40 states, so it's not like they're rare.

I enjoy them too. But I never really considered them fast food, I guess. But I suppose they qualify.

The only problem that I have with Panera is that they are a little over priced IMO, but their food is really good.

Panera is good. A bit pricey, but good.
I think we need to redefine fast food though. I wouldn't consider Panera Bread fast food.

You bring up a good point. One could easily say the same thing about Boston Market.
While one could argue in terms of 'what the difference' between serving you a hamburger or a bowl of soup over the counter, specifically when defined in the context of what is considered 'fast food' or not. But at the same time, one must certainly admit that Panera, Boston Market, and maybe a few others...do break the mold in terms of what is stereotypically considered 'fast food', and do so in a very positive way...
I some sick way, I would consider a Denny's or a TGI Fridays as being closer to what I consider 'fast food' than a Panera Bread! :o

Panera Bread is also the St. Louis Bread Company. Like Hardees is Carls Jr.

Why not. You can walk in, order and be out the door in less than 5 minutes. I would think that would count as fast food.

TO be honest, when I started the thread, I was basically talking about Mcdonalds, Subway, Sonic, ect....
However SOME of the ones mentioned (Raisin Cains, McCallisters, ect) are pretty close to those as far as speed, and could be considered "upscale fast food".
What I personally dont consider fast food is any place that is sit down and the waiter comes to your table, takes your order, and then brings it out.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries recently opened in my area, so I checked it out this weekend.
It was the best fast food cheeseburger I've ever had....it rivaled what I cook for myself at home. The "small" fry was made from fresh cut potatoes and cooked in peanut oil. It was big enough to easily serve 2-3.
I'll definetely be returning.

Thanks. I tried going there a few weeks ago and it wasn't open yet. I'll definitely give it a try. I love a good burger! :hungry:
Tried out 5guys here in Athens and my complaints were the salty fries and the cost which was more than it should have been by far.

Five Guys is popular in my office. I don't care that much for them. Somewhere along the line they changed the way they make their hot dogs, and they lost what little business I gave them.
Surprised no one's mentioned the free peanuts. We toss the shells on the floor around here- might I assume that is the same everywhere?
Chipotle - now there's some good food.

I tried Five Guys over the weekend. Real good stuff. As Sky said, it was probably the best "fast-food" burger around. I kinda feel bad for Fatburger who opened a shop nearby not to long ago. This place will take a lot of business away from Fatburger.
Five Guys menu was pretty simple. Not a whole lot of options, other than what kind of toppings you want on it.
The only downfall I could think of was that the burgers come with American cheese and there are no milkshakes. I guess you got to stick to what you know and that's what Five Guys does. My only suggestion is to offer a variety of cheese on your burger instead of the default American slice.
The fries are awesome as well. Fresh cut and fried in peanut oil. They don't taste greasy at all. And the free peanuts are a nice touch. I cracked open a few while I was waiting in line for my meal.
I had the double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, bacon and BBQ sauce. It came on a soft kaiser bun. I am already thinking about my next visit. :hungry:

Where I'm originally from, Lima, there's a local hamburger restaurant called "Kewpee". They pretty have burgers, fries, malts, and pop, errr, I mean "soda". Story goes that Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's, copied them... Their burgers are similar. There's even an "I Love Kewpee" (or something like that) Facebook page.

My wife and I were saying the same thing about Fatburger. Five guys is better, and if I can remember correctly, slightly cheaper.
I go with the double with bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, jalepenos, and BBQ....so good....

I do seem to remember Fatburger being more expensive too. Their fries weren't that great either. They had those shoe-string fries that got cold in a second.
After our meal at Five Guys, (which had a continuous line the entire time we were there) we drove by Fatburger to see how many people were there. On a Friday at 6:30pm, there was only 1 couple in the place! Plus, Fatburger is located right next to a Circuit City, which is now abandoned! Poor, poor Fatburger.
The price of five guys is what got me though when we went, it came to $23 - $25 for two adults and a 4 year old to have lunch which consisted of two cheese burgers two fries two drinks and a kids meal. I did like the burger but not the heavily salted fries, would I say that they could run other joints out of business?? Not unless the other joint is already bad or even more overpriced, the two we have in town now haven't hurt the chains their next to or the mom and pop "The Grill".
Cant remember if I posted in this thread before but here goes.
