View Full Version : Favorite fast food place?

I know, most of us who like to cook ourselves look down on these places, but just curious, what is your favorite?
If I had to chose, I would say taco bell, I love mexicanl. Ever so slightly below them is Hardees (carls jrs for some of you). Their thickburgers are pretty good for a fast food joint.
When it comes to chicken, Chick Filet cant be beat (for me, anyway.) SOOOOO much better than KFC.
At the bottom would be Captian D's, Long Johns. Does ANYONE eat fast food seafood?????
What do you think?

Happy's... a local place in an old Stuckey's ... their Jumbo 3/4 Cheeseburger is enough that you do not need fries... Chain... I like Taco Bell but it's on the other side of town so I'd have to go with Sonic, Long John's is by Taco Bell so...but we have Chile's on our end of town. ;)

I would have to say that Chipotle is my favorite with Sonic coming in second. The problem with Sonic is that they are just starting to come into town so there are still only a couple of them.

-around town....Wendy's
-visiting my buddies about an hour away...Hardee's.. There are non in the Twin Cities area so I have to drive 50 miles away to get a good Hardee's burger
-Also like Long John Silvers but it has to be the one (again) an hour away. There are some Taco Hell/LJS together in the ciites and they suck. Its the hour drive to Mankato to get that. They are awesome!
And I have to say KFC too because....well my parents own one ;)

Sonic, they just opened the 1st one in the chicago area here and I love it
I like popeyes chicken as well as Bojangles which is about the same, (no bojangles around here though)
I also like carls jr and hardees, (none around here anymore)
There is a Great BBQ Chain around knoxville that I really like and it's Buddys BBQ
I love CHick FIl a but they are all in the south
...Hardee's.. There are non in the Twin Cities area... I've noticed that about Hardee's and others seem to say the same thing. There's not a "lot" of them -- not a good or bad thing -- and what I've noticed is they're often in smaller towns (not a suburb either), i.e. away from bigger cities.
Steak 'n Shake for me. Love those skinny french fries that they have plus the burgers are good.

Naw, after eating at Quizno's, I lost interest in Subway.
When it comes to chicken, Chick Filet cant be beat (for me, anyway.) SOOOOO much better than KFC. Yeah, their chicken is excellent. From what I've seen of them though, they don't exactly compete with KFC, do they ? KFC is primarily fried chicken (pieces) whereas Chick-Fil-A is processed pieces for sandwiches, strips, and nuggets.
Does ANYONE eat fast food seafood????? Have to admit, I think Long John Silver's is pretty good. Better than Captain D's, IMO.
Steak 'n Shake ... plus the burgers are good. Have you noticed if their burgers have gotten smaller in the past few years ?

Hasn't many things? Notice ice cream isn't 1/2 gallon boxes anymore? A bag of Lays potato chips used to be 16oz, it's now down to 11oz, same price though.

And a not so distant second is Portillos (http://www.portillos.com/portillos/)
And last, Jay's Beef (http://www.jaysbeef.com/), which is perhaps the finest Chicago Style Italian Beef ever. The only reason that I put this last is because the only place you can find it is...well...Chicago....:o

I take back my pick of Popeye's Fried Chicken. I like them, but far and away my favorite is Panera Bread. (http://www.panerabread.com/) Don't know why I didn't think of them earlier. Great sandwiches, French Onion soup is a standout, and great bread at their bakery. All in one store.

My favorites are Taco Bell, Subway and Long John Silver's. Thankfully, (for my waistline, not my taste buds) there aren't many LJS around here. My favorite Subway meal is Oven Roasted Chicken Breast with all veggies (no tomato) with swiss cheese and sweet onion sauce on honey oat bread with a side of Salt and Vinegar chips.

My only real issue with Quiznos is that everything seems so 'over-prepared' to the point where you have so many choices, but no real options. 'Teriyaki-Ginger' this, 'Chipotle-Salsa' that, 'Italian-Caesar' something else...lol. I mean, what do I do if I just want a freakin' sandwich? :D :D :D

Yes I have! When I'm feeling particularly decadent I tend to go for the chocolate malt as well.
I've been going to the original location in Melrose Park since I was...well....'relatively young', :) My big thing there is the italian beef, and I wasn't beyond bringing a bag full of Portillo's hotdogs to my nephews baseball games either... -/

I loved Boston Market until McDonalds sold it off. Once that happened they tried to go chipolte which was very bad IMO. Now they have gone back to the old menu but I've gone about five times at different times of the evening and walked out the store when they said they had no sirloin left. The sides aren't that good anymore and they got rid of the good online coupons which make them the same cost as a real one pound prime rib dinner at Sam Seltzers not counting tip of course. I'm basing the cost on the 8oz boston market roasted sirloin. The value isn't present anymore assuming they ever had it ready. Also the one time they had it ready it was so well done it was as close to burnt without being burnt.
I love Wendy's and Arbys the most though and oh Subway and Quizno's too.

Hey! Long John Silvers is my personal favorite. Gotta love deep fried clams...That's high on my list! Around here LJS is coupled with A&W so you have a double dip as far is choice is concerned.
And I confess to a real hankerin' for Micky-D's, especially the Fillet-O-Fish.
Also on my short list are DQ, Taco Bell, Wendy's and BK. I also liked Hardees a lot but they disappeared from our area years ago. I wish we had a Sonic. I love what they're showing in the ads and would like to give it a try.
As far as pizza and subs go, I have very picky tastes there. The places I might venture for either fare would not be considered "fast food".
But in fact anymore I try to stay far away from all of these joints. Neither my wallet nor waistline can stand much more! My veins are probably almost solid mayo and cheese at this point! I only head into these places anymore when I have two-fer coupons, and fortunately those are rare.
I'm trying to abide by the South Beach diet, "right" carbs and unsaturated fats. Hard to find either in the places mentioned above. (Subway is gettimg there, but see my above comment re: subs).
Damn - Now I'm really starving for something I shouldn't have...!
PS - As much as I love Taco Bell, I'd hardly call that "Mexican"... TexMex maybe.
I had my first taco - US style - as a teenager at a similar place "Taco Hut" in the Pgh. area. It was 19-cents if memory serves! They made their tortillas on site. Good for the neighborhood. Besides providing quick grub and jobs for us teenagers, our stray dog and cat population diminished considerably. We were never quite sure if it was because they were eating the food (out of the garbage), or they WERE the food. (JK, of course!)
Any Mexican worth his habanero sauce wouldn't be caught dead in a place like that...!

Fuddruckers.....too bad there are none even close to me.
As for where I live. I would have to say Skyline Chili and Subway.
they've been closing down some locations here in south florida. I haven't gone in many years and don't plan to ever go again.

Skyline Chili is a great choice. I usually end up overeating there, though....gotta get the 4 way and a few cheese coneys :)
I always get sick after eating at Skyline. They have some of the worse food in the world IMO.

I love a Big Mac and fries, Subway, and Long John Silver's (but I never get to eat there). It's WI, where the fish fry rules on Friday nights. I saw one LJS in Milwaukee, but it was just the building left after the store closed.
I don't consider Fuddrucker's to be fast food. They were sit-down dinners where I went.
I haven't even heard of 80% of the restaurants named in this thread!! And a couple I've heard of but never seen or eaten there. Interesting!
Go Sox!!

I like Wendys and McDonalds, but my favorite local place is Primanti Bros (http://www.primantibrothers.com/).
I love their Cappicola & cheese, plus I add extra cheese and egg.:hungry:

That looks like Panini's Bar and Grill restaurant establishments of Ohio. (http://www.paninisgrill.com/). And I have to agree, those sandwiches are delicious!
