I swear, this mess with Fox News is CRAZY!!!! Just wanted to give people a thread to discuss without anyone being accused of trolling, ect (not that many have)
Seriously, how hard is it to just add a channel? It is on for some, off for others, with no real ryhme or reason as to why. Coupled with the confusing channel packages, plus the know nothing CSRs and it is a wonder that they are not shedding more subs than they are.
I was glad that they finally added these channels, but after this, I wonder if they should have waited until they could do it right first.
What do you guys think?

True, however, I can not help but be shocked when something like this goes on. It can not be that hard to turn a channel on. IF a company is not ready, wait until you are. Seems simple.....Does it not? I swear, I am glad they are not my primary sub service when things like this happen! I was/am looking hard at those turbo packages, but.....

When D* was about to unleashed their batch of new HD channels in the fall of 2007, you all probably remember that it was delayed a week because they had issues with billing and who could get what channels. So they took the smart approach and delayed it a week so that they could get the issues smoothed out instead of having a big mess. Yeah, we all were upset that we had to wait another week for something we had been waiting a long time for, but I think most would agree that the D* approach is better than the problems and confusion E*'s customers are having now.

After they've gotten enough subs riled up, they scramble around and eventually get it fixed or replaced. Dish is arguably their own worst enemy sometimes.

yet from my experience with both providers i find that D has more issues with their software than E does.

The problem I see is E* customers want E* to take a Channel thats in the Top 200 Silver ,and Turbo Silver pack and Put it in the Turbo Bronze pack. Why would E* do this? Fox News last I recall was never in the Top 100 pack to begin with. So what am I missing?

if everyone got the channels they wanted in the cheaper packages what would be the point to the more expensive packages? you're right.I'm fine with it. by the way i haven't forgotten about my PM to you. will do as soon as possible. it's been a rough two weeks and the story is long ;)

The problem seems to be that E* put FOX News back into the Top 100 pack. Well if you get $10 HD pack with your top 100 Its Now called "Classic Bronze" So everyone seems to be getting mislead into thinking its in the Turbo Bronze pack. Well its Not. and the Only supporting info on this subject States what i just said Fox News HD is Not in Turbo Bronze. ITs in Classic Bronze.

I agree with you for the most part. This statement though is part of the problem. There are too dang many similiarly named and confusing package differences for the average sub to figure out. Hell, most here are stumped, and out of sat subs, I would imagine that we are in the top percentile as far as knowledge goes. They should just leave it where it was, and put it in the corresponding HD package and been done with it.

Read these some more,
"Starting today, FBN will be available on channel 206 through DISH Network’s Classic Gold 250, formerly known as America’s Top 250 package. FNC will move to channel 205 on Classic Bronze 100, formerly known as America’s Top 100 package, increasing its distribution to more than 11 million DISH Network subscribers. Both networks will be available to DISH subscribers in HD.
He also added, "The inclusion of FOX News on Classic Bronze 100 is a milestone for the network. We are grateful for the opportunity DISH Network has given FOX News to continue to expand our audience as the number one cable news provider in the country.”

That is all well and good, but even after that, I still recall (or think i do anyway) seeing some people with the correct packages still not being able to get it. I assume most of that has been cleared up as of now, but it just added to the confusion here when people were discussing it.

They should Have just Left it HD Essentials. And The HD only packs Should Just what they are..

That I think is one of E*s core problems. They do not properly name and distinguish their package offerings. It is easy to see how the average (and not so average) sub can get confused in this mess.
I have also never understood why E* (or D* for that matter, although moreso E* in my experience) feel the need to change the names of packages and equipment so darn often. I can see equipment name changes when a new model comes out (that is a no brainer), but what are the 622 and 722 called now (HD duo?)? What is the purpose?

This is a Mess. Because of this E* should be Forced Now to put Fox News HD in the "Turbo HD Bronze"Pack. Just another lesson though, Read Carefully!

Biggest stab in the eye yet: I'm a Turbo Gold customer, I also subscribe to Platinum HD, and I STILL can't get FNC or FBN in HD. I have everything HD with a literal HD cherry on top, and I'm denied access to these two non-premium channels? They insist that I be a Classic Gold subscriber, paying for SD crap, that I don't want, just to get my news and business in HD. WTF Charlie?!?

Because Turbo Gold Has Fox News and FBN HD in it. Atleast one of my friends has them in his Turbo Gold Package.

After two hours on the phone with three e* reps, your friend is the one with the problem. Or he has Classic Gold with HD. One rep in Texas read me an internal memo stating that they wanted to see how many complaints they'd get.

I doubt the HD only packs have a very High demand. My Guess 15% of HD customers.

I think that 15% is being generous. My point is that those of us snobbish enough to have an HD only package are also vocal enough to be a real PITA if we're not getting EVERYTHING that we're paying for. Please prove me right.

HD Bronze Customers are bitching because their $35 a month pack doesn't have Every channel in HD they want in it. OH GEE what will you all do! Gimmie a Break!
HD Absolute for $30 is Gone everyone just incase you forgot.
There is like 8 different packs to chose from with E*, If you guys can't seem to find a package that fits your needs then Switch providers. Simple. I've Not once seen any letter ,or listing on E* Website to carry Fox News and FBN in the Turbo packs.
But I do agree "Cowboydren" that if you have Turbo Silver you should get Fox news, Turbo Gold should get Fox News and FBN.
All the Bronze Subscribers,
Even if you Got FOX News HD , Then there would just be some other new HD that your package doesn't have, that all the others have.
Remember you are subscribing to an Entry Level HD pack . Its NOT going to have Every HD channel.

I'm glad you see that my way. I'm pissed that Classic subscribers of the same service level get HD programs that I, as a Turbo customer, don't get. It's like I've been told that I can't join a club despite paying my dues. At this point, there's no benefit to staying with Dish, as DirecTV would give me FAR better channel selection (all of their HD and SD) for $2.01 per month LESS money [than Dish charges me for HD-only]. But I'm under contract.
All the Bronze Subscribers

In their defense, your statement would be reasonable except that Classic and Turbo Bronze includes CNN, while Classic and Turbo Silver includes CNBC. Fairness would dictate that they have an alternate point of view for identical subject/demographics at the same price point. CNN and FNC cover exactly the same stories, just as CNBC and FBN fight for the same audience. Not that fairness means anything in the world of Pay TV service, or Cable News, for that matter, but we are now down to apples-to-apples comparison.
As I see it, this whole Bronze problem is about parity of sources and services, not variety of subject matter. Dish forces customers to go upmarket to get the same Reuters/AP news ticker on a different network (the Foxes), and that's silly if not petty.

Well let's not forget there might be contractual issues too, it could simply be that when they finally signed the agreement, the Turbo HD packs was not a part of such agreement.
I recall E* and FOX had this ongoing dispute about whether the FNC SD channel should have been in the most viewed AT pack or not. That dispute had delayed the FNC HD carriage I think, but when they finally resolved it, the contract might have limited the HD version only to those who also sub to the SD version.
Just my wild guess.

Then why is Fox News STILL NOT listed in the Classic Bronze 100 pack on their website and although it is listed in the Classic Silver package, why is there no "HD" icon after it?.
I think at first it was considered a glitch with Dish acquiring the FNCHD feed at about the same time it was changing it's programming packages but it's becoming clear it's not an oversight.

Website information is often not up to date.
If you meant the FNC SD issue has not been resolved based on the website info, I can certainly agree with you. It does not change the fact though that HD-only packs will need their own provisions in place to allow the carriage of a particular HD channel.

Thay are a good deal for a Guy with One 211 and no premiums, or anyother extra programming. Yes that my opinion ,But those Turbo pack can easily Reach over $100 per month when your done.
