Its good to hear we will be getting some more HD. G4 is the only one I will get though. Hopefully there is more. It would be awesome if they added that along with Travel Channel HD.

Maybe 24/7 versions of FSOhio and FSFlorida? I think that would turn all the full time FSN affiliates into 24/7 HD.

Those are RSN's.
If G4 HD is one of them, then I can only guess that E! HD and Style HD are also coming as they are all packaged together by Comcast.

From the Travel Channel's wiki page.
It was launched by Trans World Airlines in 1987, presumably to boost airline attendance, subsequently being sold to Landmark Communications, owner of The Weather Channel, and later Paxson Communications. Discovery bought 70% of the network in 1997, acquiring the rest in 1999. In May 2007, Discovery sold Travel Channel to Cox Enterprises subsidiary Cox Communications as part of a larger multi-billion dollar transaction. However, Discovery Communications still distributes the channel under Discovery Networks.

Hum... Considering Directv has all of the Discovery channels, why haven't they added Travel yet in all this time?
Even when they switch their focus to sports they added Planet Green HD!
So um...?????

Because Cox Communications owns them. Discovery just distributes them, not own them. Cox is the one D* has to get a contract with, not Discovery.

Satracer posted that there would be something coming April 1. he didn't post what.
The channels listed above came from speculation from posters after Jamie said something was coming.
As of now, we don't have any solid info on what is coming.
The idea of G4 just came because someone saw HD next to titles in the program guide, but that happens on non-HD channels all the time.
We'll wait and see, but don't have too-high of hopes for a particular station yet just because it was listed above. As for the RSNs, it is somewhat practical with baseball starting, but by that logic, so would hoping for WGN-HD (which I am hoping for April 1). There, I said it, give me the rest of the Cubs in HD.

That was a very informative show...looked at the program guide for the current G4, not much that I think will appeal to me, but maybe if they have any HD shows, I will give it a shot and see whats its about. There have been a few shows/channels I have watched only becouse it was in HD with a better picture (Planet Green)

Shutup guys, you'll jinx it.
Besides, 7 hdppv channels have been moved, and they have a good amount of bandwidth on one of the spaceways. There is good reason to think a good amount of channels will be added.
BTW, a festivus is a fake holiday in place of christmas. TBH, 20+ channels would have to equal a festivus.

New HD would be good for us all. Keep the competition between Dish and Direct going. But such a response was why I was puzzled by the Charlie Chat annoncement of new HD by 4/1; it gave Direct plenty of time to prepare a response to counter the PR Dish will get from the Viacom adds.
But hopefully this will mark the HD war will heat up.

I agree. My contract is up in November and if they don't get on the ball here soon, Comcrap may be getting a call. I am at the point now where quantity is no longer as important as quality. More HD is nice, but if it's not worth watching, what good is it. Comcast has all the channels I watch with the exception of Sunday Ticket and that is losing importance to me if I still have to pay extra for HD. Since the takeover by Liberty, D* has been very reluctant to expand. Now I know some will say that they are growing, but if the last few years have shown us anything, is that the company with the momentum in HD grows. D* is losing that momentum with every month that goes by.

I am sure this post is all that it will take to push D* to add a flood of HD just to keep you as a customer. D* surely knows if they don't add more HD soon that Comcast will run away with the HD crown.
This and other post like this are nothing more than a plea for more HD vailed in an idle threat. We all know D* is the HD leader right now; do you care to list the HD channels Comcast has that D* doesn't. If Comcast has all the channels you want and makes sense for you "wonderful". I don't think anyone out there hates on those that make decisions based on their own situation. But the needless whining of D* better add HD or I am leaving when they clearly offer more HD than any other provider gives a clear picture of the poster at hand. Now if D*'s HD offerings gets passed by E*, Comcast or the like then some legitimate complaining will be in order.
That said "Bring on the HD or I will stay put with D* the HD Leader".

I am not threatening anybody. I am not foolish enough to think that my complaining will all of a sudden make D* open their eyes. If you really look at it closely. D* doesn't really have that much of a lead. If you take away the HD RSN's, which, in all reality, if you don't live in that specific region, you don't have a whole lot of HD to look at, and the HD PPV's, the only thing that is keeping D* ahead are premiums and sports packages right now. Not that it is not important, but in this economy, people are cutting back. Comcast in my area has almost 50 HD channels and they are testing going all digital, which will give them the capacity to add more. Don't get me wrong, I hate Comcast! I love D*. I am just saying that D* has become complacent and, worst of all, content with what they have now. Meanwhile the other providers are catching up. Comcast has recently added Travel HD, E! HD, and in April are adding MLB HD. I have a friend that works with Comcast and he says more are coming and he would know. I just don't want D* to forget what got them there to begin with.

I don't disagree with your wanting more, we all do. My objection to your post was that you threatened to leave D* if they didn't add more HD. That would be a fine post too, if D* had fallen behind in HD in your market. Right now if you list HD channels offered by EVERY provider you won't come up with one that has more NATIONAL HD. You may be confusing D* and E* when it comes to premiums but I don't think they should count in a national HD discussion anyway or you may as well count PPV's and Sports packages. D* has more National HD channels right now with E* on their heels (after April 1st). E* has Lifetime and LMN which I am pretty sure none of us guys give two sheets about. Just the tone of your post just struck me as D* OWES us more on top of already giving us more HD than any other provider.
When you leave D* because they don't add more HD soon, you are going to go to a provider that offers less?

Sports Time Ohio last I heard has the most HD, Then Nesn,SNY,Yes. All the rest have less then 20% of HD content.
Thats right from the website , "Where's the HD at".

Actually MASN did not broadcast in HD.
That's incorrect. MASN didn't have a full-time HD channel but they did put out a part time HD RSN (640-1) as well as an alternate HD RSN (641-1). I know this is true because MASN is one of my local RSNs and I've watched Nationals and Orioles HD games on both channels. So to me this isn't a new channel.

like I said over at dbstalk, satracer is doing us favors by sharing info that he's not obligated to. he's entitled to screw up once in awhile. for the most part he's extremely reliable!
I agree, and I still do not see how HE screwed up. He did not mention specific channels until he mentioned the two RSNs. By that time, the rumors were way out of control already.

STO is 662.
This is not a festivus. Two RSNs, in which the HD game content was already available on the part time versions, doesn't count as new channels to me.
i understand much more hd will now be available on both channels beside the games already broadcast. masn will be airing over 100 hd for both the nationals and redbirds this season which is a significant increase from last year.
i don't expect a non sports fan to be excited but i am!

I understand cloak and dagger activity when it comes to National HD. Any number a scenarios (contracts, technical, etc) that may delay a launch of a channel. When it is a National channel it affects everyone and all eyes and blogs are tuned in. So no word until they actually go live may be standard operating procedure.
But being ambiguous and vague about a channel going from part time to full time that only affects a certain market. Come on, what is the point? If a delay happens at the last moment, how much backlash could there possibly be? First aren't they pretty forth coming with new local markets and pbs's coming online. Second has a local channel that only affects a certain market ever been packaged as what should be a celebration by all subs? No matter how small.
No one in their right mind would say "Hey HD D* subs, there will be a reason to celebrate come April 1st!!!" if they knew it was only STO and MASN going fulltime.
So the optimist in me says maybe just maybe a national HD is around the corner. Or the Festivus prophet is in fact NOT in their right mind.

My guess thats why D* never mentioned Part time RSN's switching to Full time. Who really cares?? Fine if its your own local market, Sure then ,Yea happy day, But You didn't gain barely anything.

i think the rumors started because of the removal of 7ppv channels. which tells me something is going down soon but no one ever said it was this wed ;)

Yea, It explains why D* wouldn't want to call a press conference. As it is really no big deal.
But why would satracer or anyone else feel the need to be so vague? If it is no big deal say it is no big deal, don't say anything at all (a festivus? really? this qualifies?), or say 2 RSN's are going fulltime (but don't mention which ones, just in case).
The whole thing just doesn't make sense just like people posting "soon" in their post. NO ONE thinks its funny, ironic or clever but people still do it. Just one of those mysteries I guess.

i think the rumors started because of the removal of 7ppv channels. which tells me something is going down soon but no one ever said it was this wed ;) Yep, And those removals could have been for the MLB pack for all we know. Free up space for the hundreds of games a week.
Just because some at satellite guys claim the HD PPVs a National placeholders, Doesn't mean thats why they are really there. So when some get removed ,it still doesn't mean National HD is going there.
Rumors are a deadly threat . Untill Official info from D* or E* is posted, I think we all need to NOT take everything we hear straight to the heart everytime.

I think the mistake was calling it a "festivus" of new HD.
Satracer is a good guy and means well by his posts. And even though his original post made it seem like more HD was coming then just 2 RSN's didn't it feel GOOD to be excited about Satellite Television again?
