D* is being sloppy. They will need to actually add Travel Channel HD plus a few others soon. E*, Verizon and AT&T are all the HD leader(s) much more so than D*, unless you want to play games w/ RSN's. They can't play the PPV/VOD game. Comcast has that locked down! :p

Not one of them is a PPV, there is no overcompression, no funny bussiness, no shenanigans, no monkey shines, and more on the way.

Not in channels that people actually watch.
Where's MLB Network, the best HD channel out there.

Have they made them available to the Turbo subs yet?
In any case, I consider the RSNs channels, but even then the count is pretty even.
Congrats to the E* subs that can watch the new HD

If you take out the RSNs and HD PPVs, E* leads D* 78 to 70 in national HD channels, in other words channels people do care about.
I understand that some don't want to discount RSNs and others do. I think there is merit to both sides of that argument.

No doubt Fios has that edge, but most people do not have that option, also their HD hardware is not known to be the best and can be expensive if you want more than two.
I personally did not care for all the rants after 4/1 because it was just a matter of how soon the new HDs would be on. Charlie did seem lately trying to have some fun with us when adding new HDs.

Take out Premiums and they lead by only 3 and then you are truly left with the channels that people actually care about (The ones I bolded. Although one can argue that few care about BET Jazz, WFN, Fuel, and Speed).

I would say: "...the channels that I actually care about...," rather speak for the people:)
As examples, I would not say people do not care for the HD premium movies, nor say people do not care for HD "premium" NFL ST:)

I know I love my HD premium channels! I originally subscribed to Dish Network for HBO so it is important to me. :)

Agree on the premiums. I care more about those than ANY of the other channels that either provider has that the other doesn't. I want HD movies without commercials!

gotta say premiums are important to me as well, but it is sad how much E* has taken charge, I remember last year many people were saying there was no way they had the bandwidth and E* was going to shut down when the satellite failed, now look how the tide has turned.

Most people don't know anything about anything.

Or just plain stupid.
For example, I have read many D* subs bashing E*, hoping E* to fail. Why? So D* can be the only game in town and start to change you an arm and a leg and you will have no other choice but pay them?
And I say so as a D* sub myself.

Absolutely! I actually want E* to get stronger and better. That can mean only good things for D*. We don't need a satellite monopoly.

You do realize this attitude is not too far from "I don't mind if E* fails and so what if D* can charge me whatever they want I will just have to pay it?":)

D* just added 30 1080p movies VOD. Using E*'s counting of 1 VOD movie = 10 channels, this gives D* over 300 HD channels.

LOL - that's pretty good.
As a sports fan, that makes it an easy decision for me, so nit picking on HD count does not matter much. D* has MLB Network which is VERY important to me. Plus I get to see a lot more RSN games in HD.
Now if I had my druthers, I'd like to see D* add Travel Channel HD & WGN HD (so that I can root for whoever is playing the Cubs :D). And if D* ever catches up with HD premiums (& just premiums in general), I would consider forking out the extra cash for premium packages. But all of these pale in comparison to getting the sports that I want to see.

I think they are two totally different things.
People keep saying that about the price of D* being driven up by these sports packages, but from what I can see, if you do not sub to them, the price you pay for D* or E* is more or less the same.
