Direct seems to be very tight lipped about disclosing the financial aspects of the deals between the leagues. The only one that is easy to find info about is ST. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that ST is exclusive and the others are not?

Yep.. I made it clear that I was simply playing with numbers based on the info Hemi gave me. There was nothing to call me on.

I have only done simple math in an attempt to have others help me determine if Direct is or is not profiting off specific sports packs. This would be clear if someone is able to post the actual numbers. Until then, none of us know for sure which packages are profitable and which are not, if any at all.

Speaking of Sportspack....since ESPNU is in a regular package, are there any other channels that are worth the package. I have NBAHD/NHLHD with free platnium right now, and here is Michigan, the Detroit RSN is the only one we get and I dont think that on the Dish website the channels are corrrect, since they have NBAHD and NHLHD on there and I have heard that they are not part os sportspack only the SD versions

I guess I've just been lucky. I only Get Mets Games in HD on RSN's anyway. Yankees I watch on Cable,and Phillys I watch on MY Network channel 53 part of my locals.

There have been a few Mets games which were NOT broadcast in HD on E*
Also a few that were JIP when they made there west coast trip to LA & SF

D* has the advantage there....Wish E* would make the RSN HD's full time

Same reason I checked as well. I have never watched BET until yesterday, and like MTV I will probably never turn it on again. Most of these Viacom stations are geared towards teens with an attention span of a gnat.

Where do all these ficticious HD numbers keep coming from...the guys who cooked the books for Enron, WorldCom and Adelphia? All I know is that I have 122 pristine HD channels in my FiOS TV lineup...not one of them is a PPV, VOD or a regional sports network in Cheboygan MI...and no one other than AT&T U-Verse comes close. While I cannot stand the way Cable (mainly Comcast) skews the numbers via HD VOD, I have always felt the HD numbers being touted by DBS are misleading and should be handled by the FTC as being false, misleading or deceptive advertising. To be honest, I think we, the consumers, would be perfectly fine with E* or D* telling us they have 80, 90 or 100 National HD channels...but please don't tell us you have 140 and expect this number to go unchallenged.
