I do Direct & Dish installs, mostly HD upgrades these days - 2 or 3 a month on average (retired).

Really tired of doing a "sidecar" dish for 129 on the DN 1000.6 installs since the size of the dish is not condusive to a 19 degree sat spread (110 to 129) here on the west coast.

HELLO - folks DON'T want 2 dishes on their house if they can help it - especially when 1 will do the job. If it wasn't so common, why build an input for the 129 sidecar dish right onto the LNB? The ultimate commercially produced ghetto rig.

And what's with the "check switch" software crap that is nothing but time and frustration? Build the stupid switch into the LNB like the #1 service you are trailing, and losing ground to.

Yo - DN - you are now #2 (and losing steam) for a reason:

- Your receivers are superior in function, but;
- Your outside hardware really sucks.
- Your GUI for setup is completely 3rd world and reminescent of the GWBASIC days.

Getting very tired of having to carry tin foil and rubber bands for DN installs - starting to feel like I'm waiting for aliens to contact me while on the roof.

I don't charge for my installs - just do for friends & neighbors (if I don't get 100 sig, I don't leave - 125 for the crappy DN receiver meter) - so no vested ax to grind here. But have done DN, D & FTA for many years now, as well as commercial RADAR alignment/flight check - so I know my way around the hardware & use an excellent sat meter.

Can you DN designers make it just a little bit harder so that you guys go to #3 rather than #2?

Let the flames begin - after all - this IS the war zone!

(Yea, it's a rant post - but I'm really tired of the s*it roof hardware)

You know what bugs me? When I am tuning in the signal (used to have this trouble real bad when tuning in 129) and all of a sudden you do not hear the audio on the signal strength screen anymore. The dang thing stops giving the audio because it is scanning for satellites. Well it can get stuck and not find it if your trying to move the dish. It is just very aggervating. I have to unplug the dang thing and restart the receiver to get out of it.

The 1000.2 dish has the switch built in but the 1000.6 dish your talking about that requires the external DP-44 switches is probably what your talkin about (1000+ and 500+ dishes). They are coming out with a new one with all those eyes built in if I am not mistaken.
