Only if Dish were bold enough to put this out in the advertising world of TV, then it might make some difference.

For some reason they can talk big on their own site, but never go beyond that. I wonder why?

It states in the commercial that the offer is with ST. Also, they said get 5 months of the TV package free, not 5 months of free programming. I do not see were they were lying, as Dish claims they were.

Before you accuse me of simply defending Direct. Remember I started an entire thread in which I thought, and still do think, that Direct was lying in a commercial. The one about getting every single MLB game in HD.

I've seen a few Dish Network commercials that seem to bash D* . It seems like E* is starting to fight back more lately.

"5 Months free with NFL Sunday Ticket"
Cool so I get ST and 5 months free... Sweet!:);)
It doesn't say "5 months free With The Purchase of Sunday Ticket"
So thats either Bate and Switch, Lying, or a ton of Mis information

I think it is more of a strategy to get new subs to sign up for ST than anything else. They are basically absorbing your package costs during the football season in order to get you to sign up for the football package.

Still a pretty good deal no matter how you look at it IMO Not really since the Terms of this commitment offer do not allow you to drop below Choice Extra Pack. That would be fine for me, But some one else may not want to be bound to a $70 package for 24 months.

It is for those whom are signing up in order to get ST. Like I said in my comment above, I think it is more of a strategy to get new ST subs.

Which is why I said IMO;)

Choice extra is where I am ( I think anyway), so that would not bother me

According to D* website, If you want Any rebates or free equipment Choice package and above is the minimum programming aloud under a lease.
This never used to be.
Look carefully people, and read the fine print.
Choice in 1 room is over $60 with 1 DVR.
Just find it strange that the new lease agreement with any offers require the consumer to maintain a Higher programming tier during their lease agreement. So look at it this way compair the offers,Vs what you may or may not save over 2 years time.

When you are gaining subs you can be more stringent and require upfront fees.

It is when you are desperate for subs you start giving things away for free.

In Direct's case, I think they are in need of having more ST subs, which is why they offer the discounted package with ST.

.Your Right! I agree 100%,
But for how long can D* be Stringent? Its a Very Fine line when your Talking about peoples money.
I know D* is trying to Get NFL subs, They have no choice, They made that Huge deal with NFL, and Quite Frankly I think they bit off more then they can chew IMO. In the Long run. Here on out I see, More price increases, along with stricter lease terms, and higher minimum programming package commitments. Give it 2 years when they have record low NFL sunday ticket subscribers, and record high prices compaired to all the other Providers.
Wait untill 2011, if I'm wrong I will bow down to D* and all its fans.:)

I guess it depends upon how you read it. It doesn't say five months free with the purchase of Sunday Ticket, but it also doesn't say five months free and Sunday Ticket also free. It says five months free with Sunday Ticket. IOW, buy Sunday Ticket and get five months of programming free. It seems pretty simple to me.

But I see FIOS winning in about 4 years

Only if FiOS can become very widely distributed which I'm not sure they can. If FiOS came to my area I'd switch in a heart beat. But I wouldn't switch for U-Verse or E*.

To be honest, I don't see a problem with the DirecTV promotion. If anything when E* said "At DISH Network, we believe in telling the truth" it made me laugh. I wonder of Tivo, VOOM, Lifetime, Fisher, etc., would agree with this statement.

Haha, thats true....lets see.....how about that Voom?

Voom sucked anyway, so I guess I am glad it is gone.

Lost any other channels lately?
What about the price of those distant?
DVR fees killing ya?

D* subs ever gonna get any more new channels?

Or a new DVR that works? (for Hemi:p)

Well they did lower the Distant Networks. But I wouldn't reccomend calling AAD Unless you like being raped by Verizon sales pitch.
Lost channels? Not My package but who knows for sure about the rest.:)
Again DVR fee's don't excist in my pack , But I wouldn' t want to be a classic 100,200,250 with a 4 room HD DVR system SD DVR guys are still OK.;)

D* well Who knows what the heck they are planning
HopeFully that DVR is Bug free by 2010. But same old Buggs Since 2005, Make be believe otherwise.:D:D
And Hopfully D* doesn't raise their price on the Choice HD DVR Pack, and they better Lower the price of the Premium Pack, and Bring back the Premium pack that included DVR fee.

Also this is for both D* and E*
Get rid of this dumb Protection plan fee of $6 per month, and fix your own damn equipment at your own cost., Or don't make us pay upfront lease fees then.

I see nothing wrong with what they are doing. It is a heck of a deal really. If you paid full price, your bill would be almost $200 a month. You get all the movie channels and sports channel w/ the Sunday Ticket for less than $100 a month. that is a very good deal. When someone calls to order, I am sure the terms are explained to them and they can either choose to do it or not. I don't think they are taking their orders and waiting until the equipment is installed and then telling them that you have to buy the Sunday Ticket. It is not $300 at one time either. It is divided into 5 months, so Dish's ad is a little misleading, too. It makes it look like you have to pay $300 upfront and that is not the case.

Forgot that inane phone line charge ;).

Forgot that inane phone line charge ;). Thats not an issue for me, since my D*/E* satellite receivers have been hooked to landbased/Vonage phone lines since 1995 when I first started satellite TV, And now with the option to connect to high speed internet, it almost seems pointless not having your 622-722 hooked to the internet. If you don't have your receivers hooked to a phoneline or Internet your missing out on more VOD as well as other interactive features.

I agree, if you can hook it up, by all means do. Some simply cant however. For them, this fee sucks

Or you can be like me, and have no outlet near your TVs. I honestly don't care about VOD anyway, if it is a show I want to see, it has already been scheduled to have the series recorded on the DVR.
