Now HD Platinum included with every HD package offered from E*.
Does D* have any plains for adding HD extra Pack with HD Access.
So Now we just got 11 more HD channels at no cost.
So since D* isn't adding much of anything ,Including the Tivo DVR I'm seeking, Its time to Compair Prices once again, Maybe a D* guy watching will want to start moving their butts.:)
Dishnetwork
Americas Everthing Pack( Locals and Free DVR on all dvrs on your account)
1- 722k
$102.98
HD Gold and Platinum $10
Multi Sports Pack $5.99
Protection Plain $5.99
Total $124.96
( with 4 rooms HD DVR(4 Vip 612) Add $21 )
Total $145.96
Directv
Choice Premium with Locals
1 HR-23
$109.99
$10 HD access
$4.99 HD Extra
$6 DVR Fee
$5.99 Protection Plan
Total $136.97
with 4 Rooms HD DVR (4 HR 23's)Add $15
Total $151.97
So Why does D* charge more for Less Premiums, Less HD programming.
Is it NFL Sunday Ticket? The So called Fulltime RSN's?
Any thoughts to add to a boring War-Zone?
Add some other package prices, like Choice HD DVR,vs Classic Gold 250 with DVR. Lets see where and when D* comes out on top.:)

Directv Choice HD DVR (locals)
$75.99
HD Extra
$4.99
Total
$80.98
Dishnetwork Top 250 with DVR and HD gold and Platinum(locals)
Total
$77.99
Now 4 rooms HD DVR D*
$15
$95.98 Good Value IMO.
4 room HD DVR E*
Add $36
$113.99. Not so good
Directv Clearly Wins this price battle.
E* might have Encore pack and TMC included but clearly not worth the diffence in price.
D* could just add Starz for $12.99 and have a better deal package
At $108.97 Clearly D* is the winner with it Choice Extra HD DVR package with the Starz/ Encore Pack.

I was wondering if there would be a war zone post with Dish platnuim disapering, adds more HD channel. I am happy with the new adds and the savings of the 10.00 I guess it comes down to what makes you happy.
Price wise with Dish if you add a preimum, It almost make sense to go AEP, to get DVR waived and with price difference between have all premiums and just one....Now If I wanted to be picky I think sports pack should be included in AEP, but thats for another topic

Now If I wanted to be picky I think sports pack should be included in AEP, but thats for another topic I do agree with this as well, But thats why I made sure I included it in my price. Still Cheaper then D*.

Not if you were already paying more for HD. Those existing Platinum HD subs are being screwed over by Dish, big time. They will continue to pay the extra $10 for their additional HD, while those that never paid for HD or never paid for the platinum will get the additional (previous Platinum) HD channels at no extra costs.
With Dish doing so much to improve, including passing Direct in total HD by a large number and offering many equivalent packages for much less money, they have a habit of making these positive steps into negative ones. No wonder they are losing subs. They keep screwing over their long term subs.
To put it simply, those have have been loyally paying Dish extra money over the years are the ones that will be forced to do the same, while those not paying the extra money will get a better deal. Dish seems to screw over their grandfathered package payers.
Direct on the other hand, does the opposite when it comes to grandfathered packages. Not only do their grandfathered payers continue to get the new channels and new deals, they still get to do so with their cheaper older package.
Perhaps Dish should follow Directs lead in this case by treating their long term subs better. This is probably why Dish loses more subs than Direct every quarter???

They didn't screw me over. I got platinum added just today for free without even calling or Chatting with E*.
When the 5th gets here and people are still paying for HD platinum when everyone else is getting it for free , Then you can say they are getting Ripped off big Time. Untill then You can't. The system has been Updating Since Saturday, and will continue untill Thursday.
Also Both Satellite companys Bill 1 month in advance, So Most of E* HD platinum customers also got Credits for what they had already paid.
Maybe people should calm down and wait to see what was going to happen , before they started call E* to Panic over nothing.

? And the same thing can be said about D* With Giving new customers free Premium pack with their NFL ST, While every other excisting customer has to pay for their NFL and Premium pack.
Thats a Rip Off!

That is not the same analogy. With Direct, they are giving away a paid subscription as a promotion to a few people. Every provider has sign up incentives and give away's.
In this case, with Dish, they are making a few pay for something that no longer exists.

I will give you a detailed comparison (for me and my setup) when I get a chance to put it together, but I chatted with E* the night before yesterday about price.
For a comparable package to what I have now, it would cost me roughly $5 more with E* than what I have now. Without locals, add in distants from either company, and the gap widens considerably. Got to love that overpriced all american direct:p
So price can and will vary based on setup.
Edit: I will say, that the csr I talked to was trying very, very hard to sign me up. Guess they need more subs....:D

I have a feeling that this is only the beginning. Dish is currently putting all HD in one package and the current price is $10 ($5 less than the equivalent with Direct). I have a feeling that this $10 price will increase by $5 to $10 within a year.
