I did not think I would be able to do this with DTV...I just wanted to make sure because DTV now offers HD loclas for me, including the CW.

I have Turbo HD Broze (HD only pack) locals and DVR for 39.99.

If I understand...DTV does not offer a pack that is HD only...Is this correct?

If so, do they have one that has Comedy Central in HD for a sim. price?

Thanks!!

Directv doesn't have an hd only pack, unfortunately. Check their website to see how much Comedy Central hd would cost you.

They don't have it, but at least they don't screw us over like Dish did to you guys.

The smallest package with Comedy Central is the Choice package and it will cost you $54/month. You would have to add $10 for HD access. You are looking at $64/month at minimum.

Extras:
DVR access for all DVRs: $6
Extra receiver fee (lease fee) for more than one receiver: $5/each receiver over 1.

i think the OP would be happier staying with dish. if you can get the locals via ota,i really don't see what the issue is.

I don't either. I switched from Dish to Direct a year and a half ago and was totally underwhelmed with their HDDVR, since then it has gotten worse, so I got Dish back and am happy with the 722k and Dish overall.

I have kept the Direct stuff at the Family Plan so I can get the 2 locals in HD that I can't get OTA and for the T101 channel.

When/if Dish gets my locals in HD on SAT, I'll shut off the Direct service.

Classic Bronze 100 has Comedy HD.
For $54.99 including DVR ,locals and the Platinum HD channels

Classic Silver 200 with DVR, HD,locals and Platinum HD channels
For $67.99

Or
Directv Choice package
For $55.99
$10 HD access
and $6 DVR fee
Total $ $71.99

Dish Network Silver 200 is a smarter choice by far.

The only issue I could see is if the OP records alot of local programming. If D* carries his locals thru them, he could record more because MPEG$ uses less space on the hard drive. Other than that....

Thanks to all. I just wanted to make sure that DTV did not have any packages that they did not advertise....if you go to Echo´s website, the HD only packs are hard to find....I was hoping DTV might be the same way.

The only channels I cannot get OTA in HD are PBS and WB.....not worth over $20 per month and a 24 month commitment. Also, I replaced the 119 with 72, so if I want to record in standard def, it will be in MPEG4....I do not think that is possible with DTV.

Another reason why I wanted to try DTV is the "HD Lite " picture is not so good at times, a little too red or too green at times. Sometimes, I think my 576p European DVDs look as good as the HDTurbo picture....I have heard that DTV has the same issues with the pic quality.

You could check out DirecTV's preferred choice package in International packages.
