WOW,
How many HD channels do you want ?
Of course, if they gave you the channel you want, they would be missing the channel the next guy wants.
btw, NO provider has ALL the HD channels everyone wants.
As for me, when I watch TV, all my channels that I watch are in HD. I have no problems, but then again, I'm not crying for the obscure channel that I probably will watch once or twice.
All the crying about this channel and that channel that someone doesn't have is pathetic.
Were you crying like this when they added 65-70 channels in HD when NO ONE had HD channels several years back ?
Exactly what channels are you missing that you long for so bad ?
Do you have nothing better to do than sit in front of your TV and complain about lack of a channel here and there ?
Sorry but, I'm not buying your problems....
How long have you been with D* ?
Were they such GREAT advertisers that you were given 100 HD channels and wanted more and you you signed up anyways ?
Why didn't you do your home work BEFORE signing up ?
You knew what channels they had, and you knew you had a 2 year contract, but you STILL decided to sign up ....
What kind of a GREAT promo deal did you get when you signed up ?
Must have been a great deal or you wouldn't have signed up, right ?
Did you forget about that ?
I'M JUST SOOOOOOOOOO TIRED OF THOSE THAT CONSTANTLY THREATEN TO LEAVE OVER THIS OR THAT.
GO AHEAD AND LEAVE, have fun and you better hope that your next provider has ALL the channels you NEED.
I'm sure the next one won't have some channel that you want and you will agree to it any ways and feel how great they are, until your promo is over.
You don't get everything you want unless you OWN the COMPANY ..... good luck with that.
You sound like a young kid ...............
Ok, I'm done for now .....

One more ...
Looks like you have been HERE since '06, so you were around before the big onslaught of HD channels came on board, did youn have all those channels BEFORE you moved to D* ?
I know the answer, it's NO, there were very few HD channels being shown before D* started the push.
You clearly knew what was happening if you were here then, you also knew about the contract, it was CLEARLY your CHOICE to sign up.
Sorry, I don't usually go off like this, but the threats get so boring , I think anyone that can't wait should go ahead and just leave.
fwiw, it's very easy to leave, just call them and say Cancel, but you better MEAN it.
You have obviously already made up your mind.
wow................
Well, I remember the days when I had a DTC210 and only got 7 or 8 HD channels, DirecTV has come a long way, in regards to HD.
Compared to the Dish HD I've seen, and the crappy small time local cable companies around here, DirecTV is the best....
Sorry you're unhappy...

Don't know why this is relevant, just interesting.

Go back to Dish or better yet cable. They'll give you every channel you want.
16 posts over 3 years and everyone of them complaining about whichever service you had.

Come on, apologists and fanboys, you can do better than what I have seen so far! Go ahead, accuse the OP's family of being child-molesters, them being a lunatic, etc. Haven't got the usual quota of personal attacks in yet, folks. Come on, you know you can do better than that! After all, we all know that D* can do no wrong and to say anything else is heresy, pure and simple. :D
We all know that D* didn't advertise 2 years ago falsely when they said "up to 250 HD channels", as they did add quite a few about 2 years ago (nowhere near the touted 250, later reduced to 150 and now way below that), and have added lots of HD PPVs since then, too. So what if they are no longer the HD leader, except in PPV channels? The OP has no right to say anything about it do they?
Who is in charge of building the bonfire? Where is the stake? This heretic needs to be burned at the stake as next thing we know they will be spouting off that the Earth isn't flat! This has to be stopped!

Jimbo....AMEN. Yeah it would be nice to have AMC-HD and Travel HD(ESPN U-HD is already coming). They will come when the next satellite launches in the next sixty days. Directv makes it money in Sports. They use a lot of band with for that. So for me I can deal with it. I subscribe to NFLST, Gameplan, CI, and MLB EI.
You will not see more HD by December 1st, so enjoy your depature.
Unfortuantly one of his receivers failed and he is Stuck with a new 2 year agreement!!1(lol just kidding)

Try living in an apt with an A/B cable system and NO HD... One of my relatives is in the situation and due to the location of her unit and a really small town, she's stuck on cable, which only has 26 channels in this day and age.
Btw her unit she's renting really cheap, so she won't move.

FIVE years ago last Tuesday, DIRECTV proclaimed that they were embarking on an initiative that would give them "more than 150".
Here's the press release: The DIRECTV Group, Inc. - DIRECTV Announces Plan to Launch Next Generation Satellites to ProvideDramatic Expansion of High-Definition and Advanced Programming Services (http://investor.directv.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=286625)
It also proclaimed that nobody would have more HD channels and that it would be completed during 2007 but who's counting?

Hey Mike,
Show us where D* said they would have 250 HD channels ?
I've been here a long time and don't ever recall them saying anything like that ...
It was a TV ad they ran. The ad was later changed to 150, which they never have made, as their papers at investor.directv.com for 2007 only say 150 NATIONAL HD channels. Where are the 150 that were going to be implemented by the end of 2007? Can't find them either, can you?

btw, NO provider has ALL the HD channels everyone wants.

Were you crying like this when they added 65-70 channels in HD when NO ONE had HD channels several years back ?
Nope I quit Dish to come to the HD LEADER - they just forgot the the LEADER part. I think between U-verse, Dish, Cable they actually come in DEAD LAST for HD channels available where I live.
Do you have nothing better to do than sit in front of your TV and complain about lack of a channel here and there ?
It gives ME GREAT PLEASURE thats why I post here constantly.
oh wait.... its been like a year and not until Directv SUCKS SO bad I CANT TAKE ANYMORE - I WANT HD LEADER.
Sorry but, I'm not buying your problems....
take your head out of your.... uh take your head out of the sand they lost the HD LEADER role THEY PROMISED ME. I MAY TRY TO QUIT EARLY DUE TO BREACH OF CONTRACT WHERE THEY PROMISED TO BE THE HD LEADER.
How long have you been with D* ?
Almost 2 years and about 1 toooo long. Contracts SUCK. I have decided they mean the corporation is possibly LYING or knows they are going to screw you so they want a contract.
Were they such GREAT advertisers that you were given 100 HD channels and wanted more and you you signed up anyways ?
Why didn't you do your home work BEFORE signing up ?

They have continuously increased the price on me because I switched packages once so now the deal is lost. They have ratcheted up my costs for about 18 months.
THEY SAID HD LEADER THEY WERE FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS. THEN IT WAS 12 MONTHS OF LIE. IF THEY WERE STILL HD LEADER THIS POST WOULD BE ABOUT the BEST WAY TO RENEW.
I'M JUST SOOOOOOOOOO TIRED OF THOSE THAT CONSTANTLY THREATEN TO LEAVE OVER THIS OR THAT.

Wrong you clearly missed the Kung-Fu channel!! MAJOR FAIL young grasshopper!

Yeah I talked to my attorney about a speeding ticket referral and mentioned this - he said if I authorize him to talk to them there would be no early fee.
But then it struck me his bill would be more!!! Sneaky SOB. :p
So I think I'll give them the three months before I go to Cable. Who knows they may get their act together again, why not give them 3 months to try???

I wish everyone realized that each company is in cahoots with each other. From D*, E*, Cablevision (TWC), Fios, and U-Verse they all plan this stuff. They coordinate when to drop what and who gets what channels and when. It's a back and forth thing to ensure that no company closes.

FIOS couldn't be more "un" National if it wanted too!:DI guess we can rule out Comcast, Time-Warner...and also DirecTV and Dish Network Network while you're at it since many people cannot get them due to trees, apartment living, other line-of-sight issue, and some not wanting an ugly on their property, etc. FiOS is widely available at my home in Virginia and Texas. I know FiOS availabiliy was a primary consideration when we bought our home in Dallas, and it will be a "must have" when we buy our next home.

Comcast, D* and Dishnetwork cover at least 10,000,000 more homes over Fios , EACH!
A tree can be cut down. How do I get Fios at my house?
There are only 2 National providers around and thats D* and E*.
And Verizon DVR and Customer service are the lowest standard of any business around.

Its hard to say how 'cable' compares to satellite because cable is so regional. I do know in my Area Cable beats both sat companies without a fight.

Well lets see I can get Cable Phone and Internet with true ondemand service with dvr etc, for about the same price as the best package direct offers (dish is a little cheaper) however you do not get as much service for the buck.
True Ondemadn service (not the crap direct tries to sell) Is a huge selling point for me. Being able to watch what I want when I want is awesome. Also the local provider does not over compress their HD like Dish does (and some claim direc does on a few channels).
They also offer over 60 National HD channels, plus all the locals. FREE. No extra "HD" Cost needed. The HD box costs the same as the non-hd box. (Cept the DVR which is about 3$ more).
They do have a "Premium" HD pack which includes about 7 HD channels which is like 5$ more a month for those. (channels like Universal HD, Hallmark Movies etc)
I also do not have to worry about Rain Fade issues here in FLA (whcih we all know it rains daily it seems, ive been to more then my fair share of sports bars for lunch and the sat is out because of loss of signal during the rain)
So for the price and the value of services the local provider here beats the sat companies without a doubt. It shows to based on this market having one of the lowest penetration of sat companies vs other cable markets.
Of course some of this is relative and all based on personal needs. If I was a major NFL Fan id probably choose Directv, because of NFL ticket and some other things. But im not.
So its all relative. and it really depends on the market you are in. Time warner in city A is different then time warner in city B (My provider is Brighthouse Networks howeveR)
Not to mention local FREE customer service. If my cable goes out its fixed FREE. When I call for help I get a local call center, a local rep who works for the company come and fix my cable. They do have contracters doing installs, and if its extremely busy doing service calls but for the most part you get a real employee to fix your service. And you dont have to pay. If I need to move a drop (equal to moving the dish) I dont get charged a fee for "relocation" etc. They do not nickel and dime you for little issues. I also do not have to be locked into a contract, I can upgrade/downgrade for no fee. I can cancel for no fee. I can rejoin for no fee. etc. Sure I may pay a bit more in local taxes etc but its well worth it.
It doesnt cost me a fortune to get a new HD box. Or standard box. I can have 10tvs in the house if I want for the same price, no need to pay for a box for each tv.

Thats the problem with cable its very dependent on the area.
Its also a problem for the sat companies as far as their customer service/install service goes.

Scientific Atlantic DVR, aren't what I'd call impressive, Neither is your HD channel line up. But I guess it works for ya!

Well again its all relative. I dont need 100HD channels as long as I have the ones I watch. :) Like the OP. hes unhappy about missing a few HD channels even though he has "more" then I do. As long as your provider has the one you want thats all that matters..
Also note we do have the 8300 SAs and they arent "horrid" However they now have the new Samsung HDDVRS which have even larger harddrives and run alot faster.
