Well there goes the strength in the 70s on those transponders. It dropped as much as 10 points in strength on each transponder.

But more space will now be available. Perhaps an acceptable trade-off.

Yep, exactly what I figured and posted in the Nimiq5 launch thread. I suspect we will see more transponders moving to 8PSK tonight or tomorrow night.


But more space will now be available. Perhaps an acceptable trade-off.

Exactly. Instant 25% gain in space.

Null pids jumped from about 1 Mbps to 12 Mbps on those transponders.

That's kind of what I figured... they would not adjust the channel bitrates until after they consolidate things down. Otherwise people would see the channel quality go up then back down again.

Pretty well shows there is an 11mbps or so gain, though. That's more than I thought there would be.

Yep, that's the numbers between 5/6 QPSK 20000 and 2/3 8PSK 21500
