I'm inquiring in behalf of a French expat friend of mine. I've seen the cable lineup for Shaw Direct, but I'm unclear as to if they have any actual programming from channels in France.

He says he'd like to watch mostly news and documentaries from France. The channels he's mentioned that he would like to see content from are ARTE, La UNE. Antenne2, Tele 5 Monde.

My impression is direct feeds aren't available from Shaw Direct, but I'm wondering if some of their French channels would often show content from some of the channels listed above.

Thank you.

Direct feeds: only RFI, which is radio. Otherwise, these are the two options that I am aware of:

RFO (Reseau France Outre-mer) from St-Pierre et Miquelon (http://saintpierremiquelon.rfo.fr/) shows local shows as well as various programs from TF1, France 2 and France 3.

TV5 (http://www.tv5.ca/) also shows programs from France.

Not sure about what airs on the French Canadian specialty channels.

Frenchophile pretty much sums it up. Occasionally, such as July 14 and Festival de la Musique (June), RFO will show live feeds. The news is time-delayed to coincide with SPM's time zone.

As for the other French Canadian stations, I've only seen Canal Evasion show live Tour de France.
