I hope your info is wrong. A couple bucks increase maybe, $14 and up is totally screwing the customer. As a local retailer I will be tarred and feathered by all my new customers.

I hope that's not true. $17/month per receiver is crazy. I really like E*, but I don't think I'm willing to pay that.

I hope its not true as well, which is why I posted it (and it was one of the only reasons why I did) as I hope that if its true they fix this stupid idea.

If this is true Dish will certainly fall back under 14 million subscribers me being one of them.

at $17/month on a 722; they should roll Locals, HD access fee, DVR fee, EHD fee, and DHPP charges into this new receiver charge.

At $17 per month they will become more per STB than cable.

but i thought it said there would be one DVR fee per account?

so the 17.00 would cover the 1st through the 1st+n DVR on one account...

right?

That is unclear... I hope its $17 for all the Duo DVR receivers on your account and not PER Duo DVR on your account.

Yeah I'm confused about that too.

When you say receiver fee, is that the DVR fee? Or is that a whole separate fee in addition to the DVR fee?

right? That's GREAT .... for people with 2, 3, 4, or more receivers. What about people with (1) receiver ? $17 ? Hardly seems fair or logical.

Okay Scott, you need to clarify what you are rumoring here. Are you saying that :

1) The duo dvr receiver fee of $17.00 is for EXTRA duo dvr receivers like the lease fee or the additional receiver fee or is this PER duo dvr receiver?

2) The dvr fee will STILL be charged in addition to this $17.00 fee?

I can promise you that if either of the above come true that I will be changing tv providers after 13 years with DISH on 1/18/10. I simply can't understand why this company would propose such a losing strategy on their customers. They finally went past 14 million and this will put them back in the low subscriber numbers. The economy in shambles, people losing their homes, no jobs anywhere and THIS is the time to hike the price on their receivers? WTF!!! Looks like Directv & even cable tv will have a very good year in 2010 if this is true. Sorry Charlie: You lose again.

And while we are talking about rumors , what happened to the idea that all hd channels would be included in the regular programming packs , so DISH could advertise FREE HD in every pack?

I hope new customers wont see this increase! Is Charlie trying to kill off his customer base! 17 a month is too much. Subtract 10 dollars from that then we'll be ok!

Cool it Guys, Scott stated right from the start that it is a Rumor.

No way those amounts or changes will take effect or stay..they will see such a influx of customers leaving it will be on a massive scale. Charging for service calls and fixing leased stuff just won't fly either and really hasn't since you only need to really raise hell on the phone when calling about the problem and they waive it anyway.

What I don't like about going on service calls is that for a failed receiver you not only have to replace that but you have to bring the whole install up to spec so you could be there for 2hours just for a box switch and make very little off the job.

If dish does this, I'm done with them.
I'll go back to Directv.

Not surprising. Locally there are 3 cable companies, Time Warner charges $15 per, Insight $15 per, and WOW is starting to charge $15 per DVR. Seems like all TV delivery companies are doing this to increase revenue.

Sounds like collusion to me!

I think that Insight includes HD in their $15 not an extra $10 for it.

Damn!!!
If this IS true, Direct and even cable companys will have the last laugh about the great Dish dvr's. Which btw is the reason I think it will not happen.
