Looks like their test worked out for them on this new modulation scheme.

I'm curious to see the bandwidth gain of this new scheme compared to the old one. I'll have to check it out this weekend.

EDIT: Looking at bandwidth calcs. It looks like a 22.5 5/6 QPSK scheme would get to 34.5 megabits. So maybe the turbo adds a little bit to say 36? So possibly 5 to 6 megabit gain per transponder.

If that is the case digi, what would you expect them to do with that slight amount of bandwidth gain?

Do some mixture of HD and SD on those transponders to maximize it?

Either cram another channel to the transponder or better pq.

This is Dish. Which one do you think they choose?

Hopefully keep the same quality at the moment and get another channel on there. :D

What would that equal to? An additional HD channel per transponder or 6 standard definition channels?

probably more SD channels on it

Knowing Charlie another 6 SD channels.

Just be glad that Dish isn't sending SD channels in 352x240. If they were sending SD in 352x240 mpeg4 they could get 10-12 channels in that 6 megabits.

LOL... my phone has a higher resolution than that!

I remember when Dish was the PQ leader.....many many moons ago.

If they kept the same pq and crammed another channel on there, that could net 24 new channels on 24 transponders. That would be enough to cover 90% of the HD rsn's full time.
