Stupid question time..... Is the 211 considered a VIP receiver?

I know the 622 and 722s are VIP receivers, but I didn't know if any others had that label.....

Also, it might be a good idea to list which receivers are IR receivers so that people can make an informed decision whether the IR to UHF converter it would benefit them or not....

Yes it appears the 211 has DishComm built in as well.

I found this (note the product Claude is selling is not the DishComm modem, but this shows that the 211 has DishComm built in)

The link goes to a page which mentions that the Ethernet adapter can't be plugged into a surge protector.

All my receivers are plugged into protectors, with my 722 plugged into a Belkin Power Conditioner/UPS Backup. Complicating things further is my burgler/fire system/lighting controls with also use the powerlines for data transfer. (It drove my contractor nuts because he was getting weird interference when he was hooking things up.... I'm assuming this was the DishCOMM signal). Bottom line.... any caveats people should be wary about before buying this? (Doing my part to keep Claude's equipment returns down)

That I dont know Bob. Give the store a call and ask for Claude he would know better on that one. :)

Edit: Bought it. Shipping charges ate up the savings, but at least I helped a SatGuy get rid of some surplus inventory... Good luck with the rest Claude....

Yea, both of these items are at dealer cost. I had a job that needed a large quanity of these 2 products and needless to say we are not going to use them. So its either return it to Dish or discount it.

I'm tempted to jump on the ethernet adapter, but I'm not sure......Has Dish's VOD improved at all in the past year?

They still have the lousiest way of indexing it (scroll through individual list of items... select one, then back to the start and start again - they couldn't make it more user unfriendly if they tried), but there are some good nuggets in there, although the best TV stuff still has a price tag attached, unlike Verizon which gives it away with a subscription to the associated channel.

But there is some decent content if you hunt for it. Saw the Caprica premiere a week early this way....
