i have a 722 that i want to hide in the basement so my #1 IR remote is no longer any good. anyone know where i can purchase a #1UHF remote?
i know dish sells them but i refuse to pay $15 for shipping. i also have an extra #2UHF remote, is there anything i can do with that (flip the chip to #1)?
thanks in advance for any help...

If the key has a green side just flip the chip then program receiver for UHF.

This may help DISH Network - Tech Portal (http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/techportal/index.shtml). Look up the 6.4 Remote on the left side click on features to see a chart of the proper key to use.
I also had a question similar to this - if i wanted to replace the #1 IR remote with a 2nd UHF remote, what do i have to do? Can i use two UHF remotes on the same unit? Do i have to get one that's marked as #1 (assuming the UHF remotes come that way)?
thanks

i flipped the chip and it's black with a UHF logo on it, not a 1 or a 2. i've referred to, but am confused by this chart...
Tech Portal : Remotes : 6.3 IR/UHF/UHF Pro (http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/remotes/6.3.shtml)
anyone that can help a moron?
pitt - what chip is this? Does this only apply to the 6.3 model remote?
thanks

If you want to control a 722 you need a 6.4 remote Tech Portal : Remotes : 6.4 IR/UHF/UHF Pro (http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/remotes/6.4.shtml) and a set of the keys to get the correct one for TV1. You can find them on Ebay or buy one from Dish. The correct key for TV1 is Green with a black 1 on it.
Ah ok thanks - so i can just get a 2nd #2 remote like the one i have now? I think it's model 21.0 uhf pro ?
thanks

just flip the key in your current tv2 remote (21.0) to control tv1 and use your extra tv2 remote to control tv2
Where is this key? And if i do this, it will still work over UHF and not IR?
thanks for the help

the key is at the end of the remote and marked 2 now, flip it to read 1, and it will still use uhf, controlling tv1
are you talking about the number on the bottom of the remote? I didn't realize that was removeable. I'll try doing that when i get home.
thanks

Do I understand that I can use three separate remote controls, one IR for TV1, a second UHF Pro remote for TV 1, and a third UHF Pro remote for TV2, all to control one 722K? Is there a limit on how many UHF remote controls that can be used on a 722K? I seem to recall reading about pairing remotes with receivers and I have not been able to sort that out yet.

you can use as many ir/rf for tv1 and as many rf for tv2 as you want.

Thank you!
I was able to flip that chip when i got home - but does flipping that chip actually do anything other then just change the number on the front of the remote? As far as i could tell, that was just a piece of plastic. There were no wires or metal contacts on it. So i didn't see how flipping that actually changes the operation of the remote.
Don't i have to go into the settings of the setop box somewhere and tell it which remote controls which output?
thanks

there is a switch inside the remote which is changed with the different key configs.....
Ok. I just ordered a 2nd uhf remote on ebay - if it doesn't work i'm going to send you the bill :)
thanks

I have a VIP222 which I need to convert to Dual UHF (Pro?). Info for the VIP622 (which I also have) states ONLY a 6.3 remote will work for TV1/UHF, whereas info for the 222 has no such warning. I need to buy a UHF remote and it seems a 6.3 is correct (and NOT a 6.4) - am I right about this? Sorry for getting into this thread so late, but it seemed to be addressing my problem and I didn't want to start a new thread for something that's been so chewed over.

I spoke with a Dish tech rep just now, and here is the scoop. First, 6.3 remotes are the ones to use for 222/622. 6.4 would work, but even Dish has stopped shipping them and is using 6.3's. There is info re part numbers (143040, 148786) in the on-line how-to's, but they don't matter as long as it's a 6.3. Finally, to use a 6.3 in UHF mode for TV1 you will need the green TV1 UHF chip because there are switches operated by the chip that control the remote. Dish has them and will send you one no charge. Then both TV1 and TV2 will be controlled by their own UHF remotes.

If you are going to operate the 722 in Single Mode, no need to do anything. Go to Single on the front panel and simply use the #2 UHF Remote. I do this all the time even with the receiver in the same room with my TV because that way I do not need to point the IR remote at the receiver.

My 722 came with a 6.3 and I had a couple around the house that grabbed one as TV1 UHF. I mostly use an HOne with the 722. BUT my many of my remotes are starting to die and DISH sent me a 6.4 for one of them and WOW! what a difference. Buttons are easier to use and react as one would expect, UHF distance response is incredible. I have two 21.0's and they are dogs. As soon as I can I will be switching them all out for the latest 6.4. Or if they hold out for a while, 6.5's, if they keep working like the 6.4.

Do you have a 21.0 remote? If so, just make sire the black uhf tab is facing out, go to system infor screen, press clear sat button once and than record - should change from ir to uhf

yea, I also figured this out when switching between single and dual mode.
don't have to change anything to control tv1 with the tv2 remote
