What is wifi push button? Is dish coming out with a wifi adaptor?

Still no googl tv support and will the 922 be the only reciver to do 3d?

What is wifi push button? Is dish coming out with a wifi adaptor?

Most routers refer to it as WPS or Wifi Protected Setup (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Wi-Fi_Protected_Setup).

And as already stated, the wireless adapter is up on the Accessories Store for $25. Is anyone using this on a 922? And how well does it keep the "green light" on. The way I have things setup now works, but I have to reset the connection every couple days to re-establish a link with Remote Access. For $25, I just might pick up one of those adapters.

Still no googl tv support and will the 922 be the only reciver to do 3d?

Not yet. Wasn't expecting 3D though, kinda nice to know even though I can't use it.

Where did you get that from? Dish may show off a new receiver at CES this year, but the way they are it will be another year to 18 months until they release it.

Scott I thought you stated in another thread that the 910 update has been delayed by dish. If true do you know why?

So no update on the 922 (S110) update? I'm curious if it fixed alot of bugs, and if the tv2 is indeed working. Still holding on to my 622, waiting to upgrade.

So will the 922 now support a 2nd RF remote for TV2, and will they start shipping them with the receivers?

MikeD-C05
11-21-2010, 08:45 AM
Looks like the update for the 922 was a bust. Might be delayed due to problems. Isn't that the way this 922 has been from the beginning? As for the second remote control , I doubt that DISH will ship two . They want you to buy it at $30.00 a pop.

Scott Greczkowski
11-21-2010, 08:55 AM
Mike, you don't have a 922 anymore so why are you constantly bitching about it?

The software was not a bust it just did not go out to everyone. DISH would not have sent me the release notes if it was not going out.

For TV2 you can use the remote that came with the 922 for TV2, and you can use any universal IR remote for TV1.

There is no conspiracy going on. DISH knows they released the 922 too early, but if they didn't release it we would have had a lot of people saying where is the 922 all this time.

Enjoy your 722k with Sling Adapter, with that you know it will work the way you want it to, its a solid workhorse. :)

Did the L910 go out to anyone? I have not seen any report of anyone getting the L910. I thought I read somewhere that the next update was suppose to be the L911.

dish maybe delaying the update until L911 is ready as this may be ready to go soon.

NO, I Still have the 922 till this week when the 722k arrives. I paid over $350.00 plus a trade in of a 722 to get the 922. I definitely paid to have the right to bitch about the lack of promised features and the bugs. I also paid to be a publishers forum supporter as well. Doesn't that give me the right to complain? And being a 14 year DISH sub, I feel it is my obligation to inform other members of the problems with this receiver and the extra monthly cost to have one. Like you always say Scott and I agree with you, I am not paid by DISH to say nice things about their receivers. I call out DISH on this receiver because it took so long to get it to market and have now decided to scale back almost all the things that made it a" must have" to me: web browser and the sling catcher/extender. But I will ENJOY my new 722k when it gets here. I will let you know when it does.

Scott - do you know if future customers would get a 2nd remote by default with the update, like the 622 & 722 models? I assume it supports RF mode for tv2 remotes like the previous models.

You got off Easy, I paid 450 bucks with the trade in of my 722k to get my 922. Yes it has its bugs. but I wont get rid of this thing untill i know its dead. I am really hoping for some APPs like i thought we would get by now.

And news on this Scott the Apps for the 922?

+1 Thanks for saying that Scott. I'm kinda stick of all the complaints about fees and "oh look they lied again" bs that seems to be the line lately. Yes, we know you're upset, but repeating yourselves over and over again goes no where.

I only had to pay $200 to get mine and traded in a 622 on DAY ONE. It was a rocky start, but nothing I wasn't expecting. (Well except for loosing some programs when EHD was turned on the first time and then turned off because of bugs. But most came back when the software was fixed.) I regularly have three and on rare occasions four programs getting recorded and it works more often than not. Overall I'm happy with my 922 especially since the free Android app finally came out just like they said so. (I can be patient.) Being able to stream to my phone outside the home is such a great feature especially since the quality of the stream is much higher than I was expecting. And the incoming iPad app update will be the icing on the cake. If they can get GoogleTV support working before the Market gets turned on there next year. This will remain the only DVR on my account.

I'm not sold on the 922. I ordered the Sling Adapter for my 722k. It will be here tomorrow. The 722k will do almost everything I want it to do. The 922 is too buggy for me. I install at least one a week, and I don't think I really want one for myself. Especially not for the amount of money it would cost.

I understand this may not be the best thread, but it was mentioned here... Do we know for sure that the 922 won't ever have a web browser? (I'd like to be able to watch gamecenterlive.nhl.com directly on my TV.) Thanks and my apologies if this is too much of a digression.

Yes no web browser for the 922 Charlie said so on one of his Charlie chat he stated that google can do it better.

Has the 910 update rolled out yet does anyone have it? Or is the 911 near ready for release and dish is waiting to release that. I heard from a beta tester that the 911 does have google integration is this true? If so tan it looks like it will be sooner than later for google tv intsrgration on the 922

I think that he means S110 update. I wonder if it is still coming? Last I read was Scott said that it had been sent to select boxes but not all.
Scott, have you heard anything else, do they still plan to send it to everyone, or are they sending it to a few boxes at a time every night?

Ok, so I got L631 on one of my 622's. One of the main things that got screwed up with L630 did not get fixed with L631. Say you have a folder with a number of episodes of the same show, Star Trek TNG in my case. Click on the folder name and you see the list of episodes. Select one of them and hit "INFO". Then when your done reading you select "DONE" it does not take you back to the list with the one you looked at highlighted. It takes you back outside the folder and you have to start over again and try to remember which one you just looked at. VERY FRUSTRATING!!

Sorry I meant the S110, did anyone get this update? I have not seen anyone stated that they had on either site. If it has gone out you would think that someone would have stated that they got it by now. The S111 may be ready to roll out that is why their is a delay on the update.

Strange that this new update (L631) screwed-up my OTA today on my VIP 622. It eliminated any signal on only 08-01 and 13-01 and all others are found? I did a hard reboot and rescanned Locals but still no signal. Since I also have DirecTV I checked it and found all OTA Locals are there? I moved all the OTA programing back to satellite but have lost my capabilities to record three channels at the same time on those two Locals only. Always something to someone with any update from DISH. Hope this is corrected but may not effect many so maybe a new update to the guide will work, but would not think so. Anyone else have this issue?

OK everything back to normal with both OTA with zero signal strength now @ 93/95. Don't know why, but glad.

I have 631 and it does not do this. Note that I do not have any user created folders, so if you are talking about behavior in user created folders, that may be different.

Try unplugging the 622 when you are not recording, wait 10-20 seconds and then plug it back in - sometimes this fixes strange behavior. (In fact, I do that after every update)

VegasVoomer

Tried that. No worky. It happens on system generated folders and user generated folders both. Been doing this since L630. In the tech forum there was a thread about L630 quirks and someone else had this same thing going on.

I got it this morning. It seems faster to remote control commands. One thing that still is not fixed, or perhaps I am the only one, is the problem with deleting channels that you do not want from the OTA tuner. Does anyone else have this problem? When you scan for OTA channels and it gives you the list of what it finds, if you go through and delete some, it will take you back to the top and all of the ones that you deleted will be back. Sometimes it adds duplicates. Has anyone else experienced this?

Take off the battery door and get a small screw driver , put on the top of the number sign on the front bottom of the remote control and gently pull the number tab out. Then flip it and put it back in with the number 2 showing on the front and you have a uhf- rf remote for tv 2. You can actually order a uhf - rf remote control from the the www.dishstore.net and get it that way from the start.

Side By Side PIP is not fixed cannot access it by pressing the Position button.

When I select TV Shows in Dish On Demand,Most Popular, select Done,it automatically goes to Search TV Shows. It did not do that before L631.

Had to do a Power button reset to reconnect to Dish On Demand.

Extended Guide with Picture barely shows the last channel(number 7) when paging up or down so it's of no use to me to try and use that Extended Guide with Picture.

Dish Online cannot refresh DVR through the website.

When highlighting a program in the guide there is no time run listed in the program's information, only when you press the info button do you see the time run listed.

I regularly have three and on rare occasions four programs getting recorded and it works more often than not.

I said this very early. Everyone (on this site at least) went into this with eyes open. The box is getting better (in fact, it is almost to the point that I am interested in having it, so I don't have to turn on the Xbox and swap inputs to watch my daughters ripped stuff).

I bought a Windows Phone on launch day, because I like playing with new phone OS's. It is a bit buggy, but I knew it would be.

No one should complain, when they know what they are getting into. At least Dish is fixing it one issue at a time. Kudos to them for that. It's not much different than my 721. I loved that receiver bugs and all. By the end, it was a good trusty box. I would still have it, if the hard drive hadn't died and they couldn't give me another one.

My latest testing of L631 was that I was experiencing reboots last night and I disconnected from the internet to see if that would be the difference,it did not matter if I was disconnected from the internet or not my VIP622 would reboot when I would go into Dish Cinema and select TV Shows.

This morning it was working better it's almost like we need to wait for 48 hours after a software download because there is some improvement, yet I am still having the issue when I select TV Shows in Dish Cinema and try to exit it goes to Search then when I exit that it goes back to Dish Cinema, not TV Shows?

Here's something new I have never encountered on my VIP622 until now.

I have been having the wrong date being setup to record on my timers,so I have had to keep watch on my timer recordings to make sure the recording is the correct date.

Also I have been able to run out my guide to the end(it tells me my guide info is outdated)then I press update.I did that twice then I pressed no and I still was able to look at 9 days of guide. So it would seem L631 has some issues.

Two. One in the front one in the back. However, you can use a powered USB hub to add more devices.

great. thanks. same as 622. Could not tell from pictures.
I got a powered USB hub just in case. Got a 722k upgrade by calling (free w/ $15 service call fee). Plan to add $99 sling adapter next. Dish website will not let you order the sling adapter until the 722 is installed!

Noticed this morning when I would press my guide button to view the guide options and then cancel to view a full picture that I would have a small picture on the right side of my TV screen,I can then press cancel again and view a full sized picture. So it would seem that someone(wishful thinking?) is working on this Side by Side PIP problem issue with L631.;)

Just an FYI everyone says you need a powered USB hub, but I've been using a non-powered one to connect 2 hard drives with no issues at all.

And I've seen a DPP 44 switch running without a power inserter on RG59. Doesn't mean it's a good idea or won't cause problems later.

I've always used a powered hub because it prevents the EHD from turning on every time the receiver reboots.

On my 622, there is one more bug (besides the DVR folder bug already mentioned) that bothers me, and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. When recording an OTA program, if you start watching the program while it is still recording, it will create a small glitch which always gives a "part of the recording was lost" error just at the time you started to watch the recording from the beginning. It seems to affect all OTA channels equally, even if they are full signal strength.

My EHDDs are always on. Have been for years. :)

Ok, so this seems to be what I'm looking for. I just called Dish to send my 922 back in for a 722. They want to charge me $100 for a downgrade? They say they don't want it back...so I ask if I can buy a 722 off Ebay and sell my 922. "Well no, cause we own the harware". So let me get this straight...you won't give me anything if I turn it back in cause it's worthless to you, but you won't let me sell it to buy a 722?

Anyway. My issue with the 922 is two things. #1. There is no way to set up timers based on "description" only title. My problem is College Football is titled "College Football" but the teams are in the description. So if I try to set up a timer for "Ohio State" it will never record anything.

#2. I have a Home Theater Master 500 remote that works great. The 922 has an RF remote.. So are you telling me this software update allows the use of an IR remote? Can I use my other 722 remote to "Learn" the MTH 500 remote?

If I can solve at least one half of my issues...I think I can live with the 922.

For #1 - apparently you can create these types of timers on the Dish Remote Access web site.

#2- under settings, remote control, at the bottom is "IR" selection that you can enable so you can use a universal remote. It works fine with my tv's remote. You might try that. Hope it helps.

THANKS FOR VISITING!
