I gutted my 942 as the only thing left worth anything is the hard drives. Got two of them but both wont spin up even with just a power supply attached. Any ideas on these. Just want a couple of drives for storage. The two 942 had been taking up space in my garage.
I've check the web but can't find anything.
Thanks
R.

Do they have Molex/PATA or SATA ports? What brand/model are they? Power supply unit is in good order? Try shorting the green-wired pin with a COM(black) pin on the 20/24 pin connector to manually turn on the PSU with the HDD(s) connected.

You need the utility from the manufacturer of the drive so you can change the setting in the drive that prevents spinup. The drives are set to require the spinup command from the dish software.

Good point.

OP try checking out this thread: Using your old drive after upgrade - DBSTalk.Com (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=146017)

Where do I get the utility?
The drives are:
Western Digital Caviar SE Part No: WD2500JD-57HBC0
250gb sata units with both molex and sata power connections.
Both are this.
THanks
