How do you edit (or delete) an existing post? I cant seem to find the option

It goes away after a while.

Seems long time ago we had a genius on the board. He would go back and edit his posts a la "1084."

As navychop points out, your ability to edit your posts only lasts a while (days?).

If your post is recent, you choose edit and then you'll be presented with an option to delete the entire post.

If you made a complete ass of yourself, surely someone will quote your post for posterity.

after X amount of time (maybe an hour) that option goes away to edit and delete
If you need a post deleted, PM a staff member or just report the post yourself with a simple "please delete thread" as the reason. :)
