8:00 PM BATTLESTAR GALACTICA THE HAND OF GOD

As its fuel supply dwindles, the fleet must seek out a new supply of tylium ore or risk becoming sitting ducks to any Cylon attack. A recon patrol finds an asteroid full of the fuel, but there's a catch — the Cylons have found it first and established a heavily guarded refining plant.

Kara devises a plan: Jump three decoy ships near the asteroid; when the Cylons attack, destroy their bases, leaving them stranded in space. It's a bold tactic, but it will take luck, skill and daring to pull it off.

Meanwhile, President Roslin begins to hallucinate as a result of the Chamalla she's taking to combat her breast cancer. When she consults Elosha, a priestess who has used Chamalla to induce visions, she learns that her circumstances fulfill a 3,600-year-old prophecy.

On Cylon-occupied Caprica, Sharon and Helo's flight from the Cylon overseers suddenly becomes more complicated when Sharon discovers she's pregnant.

9:00 PM BATTLESTAR GALACTICA KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING, Parts I & II

While flying a supply patrol, Crashdown and Sharon Valerii discover a bountiful planet that can support human life. Indeed, it might be Kobol, the legendary "home of the gods." The discovery prompts Commander Adama to send a ground team to investigate; it also gives new life to President Roslin's belief that she is a tool of destiny and that this discovery, like her rapidly spreading cancer, is part of an ancient prophecy.

However, things are not well on the Galactica. Gaius Baltar, the new vice-president, has a one-night stand with Kara Thrace and finds himself at odds with both Lee Adama and a deeply jealous Number Six.

Meanwhile, both Cylon Sharons struggle with their dual natures. On Galactica, she contemplates suicide when she realizes her programming will lead her to betray her comrades; on Caprica, she tries to convince Helo that her love for him is stronger than her loyalty to the Cylons.

After a Raptor carrying Vice-President Baltar is shot down over Kobol, Commander Adama must find a way to destroy the Cylon basestar that guards the planet before he can send a rescue team. He orders Kara to fly a dangerous mission against the basestar, using the captured Cylon Raider — but Kara makes an unauthorized Jump home to Caprica instead, abandoning Adama and the stranded Raptor crew.

II

When Commander Adama learns that Kara disobeyed orders and Jumped to Caprica on orders from President Roslin, he demands the president's resignation, with the implied threat of a military coup. Roslin refuses his demand and sparks a confrontation.

As civil war simmers in the fleet, the conflict on Caprica heats up. Kara completes her mission for Laura: She finds the Arrow of Apollo that, according to prophecy, will lead the fleet to Earth. No sooner does she pick it up, however, than she is thrust into a battle to the death with Number Six.

Meanwhile, Adama sends Sharon and Racetrack in a Raptor equipped with a Cylon transponder, to fire a nuclear warhead that will destroy the basestar. But when the missile release jams, Sharon lands the Raptor deep inside the basestar, to deliver the warhead manually.

Once outside her ship, however, Sharon is greeted by dozens of Sharon avatars, all Cylons like her, welcoming her home. She retreats, but is told that she and her fellow Cylons will meet again. She and Racetrack escape the basestar, which explodes.

Mission accomplished, Sharon returns home to the Galactica. She warmly accepts Commander Adama's thanks and praise for a job well done — then she coldly shoots him, point-blank, in the chest.

"Season one really ends at episode seven [of season two]," series creator Ronald D. Moore says. "Adama's been shot; we have people stranded on the planet Kobol; Kara's back on Caprica; Laura's in jail.

"Adama does not get back on his feet again for several episodes. It's touch and go with him for a while. (First Officer) Tigh's in command. He gets them out of a tight situation in the first episode, but Tigh's not really the guy you want in command of the fleet. He makes some bad choices, and things go from bad to worse.

"Divisions form in the fleet. Laura gets out of jail and leads an insurgency; the fleet is split into two groups. Kara, back on Caprica, encounters a resistance movement. There are a lot of things happening."

I just re-watched the last episode of season 1 and can't wait for tonight's Premiere of season 2. watching this again Starbuck realized at Caprica's museum what a big mistake she made by coming back to Caprica after she saw Sharon's clone. Those shots to Adama were very close and I am not sure anyone would survive them and it was two of them. Cylons are strange. They are willing to sacrifice everything and even their own to accomplish their own long goal. When Sharon met the clones of herself, you wonder why she was not reported and they let the entire base be destroyed. I guess the long term mission asked for this. It seems that in the sylons race there will be two or possibly three distinct races developing. One is the machine. The other are the clones that are with the machines like sylons and the last one are the clones that believe that they are human and will be the new children of 'God'. These are very dangerous ideas and which ever group comes out will not look after the human race. Also, Dr. Baltar will have to decide who he is going to make alliance -- the new race (out of the clones) or the humans. Remember that the Sharon clone on Caprica is also pregnant and it is hard to tell whether she is working with 'Number Six' or she is working alone. She also carries the new 'children' and it is hard to tell which way she would go. Helo is taking pity on her which could be a good thing and she may help the humans later on.

I can only say WOW!!! What an episode? There is so much happening and it is so exciting. Now cylons are on Galactica for next week.... Starbuck spent too much time discussing the philosophical issues with Helo about Caprica-Sharon. Thus, she loses the ship but I doubt they all three would have fit in it. Nevertheless she did not a great job in losing the only way back home that she had. I thought the cylons only had laser weapons. The ones firing back to the chief were firing with guns. So who are they? They were never shown. Why?. Questions, questions and more questions. This show rocks!!!!

If you want to you may check the director's commentary on the first Episode of the second season. The commentaries are designed in 4 parts and lets you know when commercials are coming. It is very cool feature. I read only 1 out of 4 and it gives you some insight into the episode. If you haven't watched the episode, it is a spoiler.

Season 2: "Valley of Darkness" @ 10pm ET on Scifi

Valley of Darkness This episode is what I will call Chaos... The crew face one of their biggest thread when Galactica was aborted by the Cyclons. These Cyclons have no mercy and exterminated quite a sample of the crew. The (former) president's assistant almost got everyone killed by his clumsiness. Never give a real gun to a child... give it to a Man.

Meanwhile on Caprica the action is slow... Helo and StarBuck were mostly featured on this episode. Talking a lot of nonsense that did not pertain to the problems at hand. Kind of a waste. Helo has not asked the question WTF she was doing back on Caprica. She still carries the "Arrow" which started this entire chaos to the crew of Galactica. Remember she was the one who refused to go on that mission to blow up the Cyclon starship and instead when out on a limb to get the arrow on Caprica based on nonsensical religious prophecies. I think by her gestures (physical on this episode) she is now re-thinking the whole deal with the arrow. In the meantime, I have to ask where was Caprica-Sharon. Why was she left alone? I would assume that if you have someone from the other enemy front with you and she is friendly to you, you would try to tap on the bastly amount of information that she may have about the Cyclons. I do not understand Helo and Starbuck. By now I would have questioned Caprica-Sharon a get more information including how to get out of Caprica. She is the best source of information on how to get out of the planet and return to Galactica.

In Kobol, Chief learns the hard lesson. In trying to save the live of his fellow soldier, he lost his other friend when they went to get the aid kit. But now that they are back he finds out that it is too late and that his fellow soldier is dying and it will be better to put him to sleep rather than suffering an agonizing death. It is hard to understand that these people are military personnel. In a war, you do not risk the lives of people when you know the possibilities of getting caught by the enemy (at least on the movies I have seen). I have never been in the military but what do you think about the chief decision of going back for that aid kit? was it the best decision?

Dr. Baltar.. I wish someone will kill him and be done with him. He is just such an egocentric person. All he thinks about his saving his own skin at the expense of everyone else. The child by Six might be a fantasy, an illusion on his brain. Caprica-Sharon may be carrying the only Cylon-Human DNA child. Waiting to see the next episode...

Sean Mota

check the director's commentary... It shares a lot of light of what's going on... There are some stuff which never were released or were cut in the editing but the past events are mentioned and we wouldn't know what happened. For example, when the Cyclons are on Board Galactica, Tigh (sp?) knows righ away where they are heading... How does he knows that they were going to "ATF Damage Control". He said that he has seen something like this before (I thought he dreamed this, IMO). In the Second Episode, it was not explained how he knew this and the director commentary makes it more clear that during editing the story how he knew, was cut from the episode. It seems like Tigh and Adama were in a similar ship before as pilots and the Cyclons destroyed the ship by using the same tatics. I usually record the episode and watch it on Friday Night and then listen to the director's commentary while watching the same episode muted. Give it a try... It makes the episode even more enjoyable.

Intense... lots of action... Tigh is in over his head...

Sean Mota
07-30-2005, 01:36 PM
I agree. Tigh is way out of his league but his trying to deal with very intense and tough situations the best way he can. When a president jeopardizes a military mission based on religious beliefs and everyone seems to be hoping that her religious beliefs are the way of salvation, I will act as well the way he is acting. The president is responsible for the chaos that they are in. Adama was shot because of her and everything that has occurred since then are all consequences of her action -- convincing Starbuck to abort mission and disobeyed a direct order from the Commander of Galactica.

The situation with Apollo is also interested... This is a guy who deserves to be court martial. His action are not the minimal. He started a mutiny by siding with Laura something which has regretted and gave her the shoulder in the last episode. Because they are short in man power, he is able to leave prison and resume his command but he is a very dangerous man in Tigh's mind. He sided with Laura more than once and he should not be trusted in high level decisions. All these are questions that Adama will have to deal with once he gets well. Tigh is in a very tough spot.

About Dr. Baltar being the "Instrument of God"... the more I get into his character, the more I learned to despise him. Here is a guy whose basic training as a scientist will tell him that all this ballony about prophesies and beliefs should be disregard in no time. Not only has he concealed the thread of cyclons on Galactica, he is being manipulated by six. She has her own plan and will do anything for her ideas to come to fruitition.

Whoa... just keeps getting better...

This is not getting better... This is the best series I have seen in such a long time. Apollo made a decision that he may regret his entire military career. I do not think he deserves to come back to the military even if he is adama's son. He messed up twice and disobeyed every military code there is. He has created a mutiny and now he lighted the sparks of a possible civil war. A war between the military and religious fanatics (what is new in the human history). Also, the problem of Galactica-Sharon, now that she is dead her contiouness will be downloaded to the closest cyclone (if there is one around) and could give the location of the fleet. Is Starbuck now going to give it up once again to that guy? She is becoming the prostitute of Battlestar Galactica (even more so than "six"). 8 more clyclones in the Fleet that G-Sharon told. There could have been such much information that they could have gotten from her but someone had to be stupid enough to shot her.

I watched it last week. Adama is back! and he is not very happy about the self-proclaimed messiah (the President). 23 ships left with the Messiah to Kobol and it looks like Adama is going back to Kobol to get them back! You see how strong Religion can be and and we have seen in our days the same self-proclaimed messiahs taking down with them a bunch of brainwatched followers. I see Adama's point of why going back for them. They are, in fact, committing suicide. They have no military support and we know Kobol is filled with cyclons. Kara (starbuck) looks like she is going to be able to deliver the famous "Arrow of Apollo" to Kobol. Caprica-Sharon is leading the way. I wonder a few episodes before where she was and why Karen and Helo left her in the planet. She was the only way that they could have gotten a spacecraft which prove to be the case. Karen was implanted something by the human-cyclons. This will be interested to see what it is.

It will be interested to see how Adama resolves the messiah problem that he has on his hands. I think Laura has to die in order for him to get control back of the fleet. Either she will die from her disease or she will die in a different way. Maybe Adama orders her killed.

Sean Mota

Home Part 1 I watched this episode on the weekend. This series has not let their arms down for a bad episode since season 2 started. This was another. Let me say that starbuck has become the whore of BSG. First we saw her with Apollo's brother. Then came Dr. Baltak (sp?). After this was one of the rebels in Caprica (recently in season 2) and now it looks like the next on the list (he has always been on the list) will be Apollo (Lee). By the time the series is over she would have slept with the entire fleet. :D On a more serious note, I did not understand and I still don't understand why the heck everytime a human-cylon is caught the military makes no effort to interrogate them and get questions. The president (self-proclaimed prophet) wanted to get rid of Caprica-Sharon as soon she boarded the so called resistance-fleet. Instead of using her for information first thought is to get rid of her. No wonder the ciclones want to get rid of all humans. Now you have an interested situation developing. It seems like there are a few who disagree with the President about her religious adventure (self-proclaimed prophet). The chief priest is now gone. I guess she was one of the ones to fall on Kobol according to the prophecy  Gee... if I had heard that prophecy and knowing that there were cyclones in the planet, I could have fortold with 95% certainty that, indeed, some would be killed. It does not take a genius to figure out that one. This brings me to cylons. If the tomb of Athenas (sp?) was so important why haven't the cylons secured the planet (Kobol) and get the tomb themselves. Could they have already secured what's important? Remember C-Sharon stated that they knew about the prophecies and knew everything of what was going on. There are also 8 more human-cylons aboard Galactica. We know that Thigh's wife is one of them. Who could be the other 7?

In the meantime, Adama struggles with the fact that 1/3 of the fleet believed in "this religious crap" (according to him). The morale of G-fleet seems down and he decides that it is better for the entire fleet to get back together. Will this re-marriage work? He will have to deal with Roslyn (the ex-president), his own son mutiny attempt (twice), and Starbuck disobeying orders from Adama which created this problem (Apollo reminded her about what she did and how the domino's have fallen since her decision). It will be interested to see how all these people are dealt with in a military environment. Maybe some of them will die. Roslyn is destined to die and there will not be any problems but Apollo and Starbuck will need to be dealt with.

Home Part 2 This episode is about reconciliation between lots of people but I do not know if these people will turn their back to Adama later on. Six revealed once again that she wants the humans eliminated and Dr. Baltak seems to be in the plan to help her do it. What did Sharon revealed to Adama about the Why? Sharon has lots of information that can help them defeat the cylons. She is cylon but she will help the humans, I think. This is getting interested now that they have a map to earth. But you would think that the cylons already know about it. Also, sharon revealed that the cylons are not interconnected all the time. I want to see how much Adama is going to trust her from now on.

I wanted to know, how did they get back from Earth? One minute they're standing in "Stonehedge", fade to black, then after the commercial break, Adama's addressing the fleet.

I must say, I've really enjoyed this show. I watched the original, and Gary Larson was one of the reasons I thought the show was a loser. But, it was the only Sci Fi thing on back in the late 70s. I was shocked when I saw his name associated with the new version. But, I have to give him credit, this new show is the best thing on TV today.

The Cylon war won't be ending anytime soon.
The Sci Fi Channel has picked up its acclaimed series "Battlestar Galactica" for a third season, making official what has been suspected for some time. The cable network has ordered 20 episodes of the show, which will begin production early next year.

"Galactica's" pickup comes a few weeks after the renewal of the channel's two "Stargate" series, ensuring that the network's strong Friday-night lineup will remain intact for at least the next year. All three shows will resume their current seasons in early January.

The entire principal cast of "Battlestar Galactica," including Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, is set to return for season three. Executive producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore, who developed the show from the late-1970s ABC series, will also remain with the show.
"Battlestar Galactica" has been both a critical and ratings success for Sci Fi. Original episodes consistently draw close to 3 million viewers, and along with the "Stargate" shows helps Sci Fi lead all of cable on Friday nights in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic.

This show is so good and so many things are happening at the same time. President Roslin is dying and I think will not last until the end of the second season. Then you have the major conflict between Admiral Cain and Commander Adama. You have Pegasus number six mystery. Sharon's cylon galactica with a baby on the way. Both Helo and the other guy on the verge of being killed. The pending battle to destroy the cylon "resurrection" ship. The quest to reach Earth and the new map to earth. Starbuck loyalty to Adama tested once again. Will she kill the bitch or will she betray Adama?

I watched the first episode of season 2 on Universal HD in High Definition. Quite a freaking different and worth re-watching it.
