Yes they charged you for two months of service. This is standard for E* for all customers either starting a new account or restarting a previously disconnected account.

If you are restarting an account they will charge you the previous balance that was owed (if one was owed) plus a $25 restart fee on top of the two months billing. This is why many probably do not restart their service as it would be cheaper to go to another service provider plus they get the new customer promotion that way too.

Actually you do, about a month later, they bill one month in advance. The first bill is for the current month and for the next month and then the next bill you get will be for the next month. For example, you start your service today (8-29-2005) so you will get billed for 8-29 to 9-29 and 9-29 to 10-29. The next bill you get will be around 9-29-2005 and that bill will be for 10-29 to 11-29 but not be due for a few weeks. This gives everyone a grace period and is why some people have service for up to three months without paying anything.
