I don't know what's going on... It doesn't matter how the season goes, but when these two teams get to play each other, it's always a treat!
What a match!!! Easily the best game of the season!

From Paul:

March 12th

How great was El Classico??

Magnificently entertaining it certainly was and yet I still have the feeling that it was great not because both sides played fantastic football (which at times they both did) but because they both made a lot of mistakes in defense.

It was a game that probably allows everyone to draw their own conclusions depending on which side they support.

Real Madrid fans will say their side totally controlled the second half and should have had Barca dead and buried. They will point to a great performance from Guti, the way they took Barca apart on the break and the three great saves from Victor Valdes.

Barca fans on the other hand will still be chanting "Messi, Messi!" thanks to the Argentinean's brilliant hat-trick.

They will say their side would have had the match won in the first 45 minutes had it not been for Iker Casillas, while pointing out Barca drew the game in the last minute with a man less.

In Barcelona there are still cursing the referee Undiano Mallenco

Actually the ref got most things right: maybe the first yellow card for Oleguer, in the penalty on Guti, was a bit harsh, but Oleguer's second was a stupid challenge from the defender. He should also have booked Diarra earlier for his continued fouls in midfield, but there is no way he altered the result, as I think Ronaldinho dives in that 94th minute penalty appeal.

So where does that leave the race for the title?

Well one thing is for sure: Real Madrid are still involved: Sevilla blew it away to struggling Gimnastic Tarragona. A win would have taken them 8 points clear of the whites, but Javier Portillo did his former club a huge favour scoring the only goal of the game as Nastic won 1-0.

Valencia meanwhile only drew 1-1 away to Osasuna, so hardly anything has changed and it the top four are all within 5 points of each other.

After all we have seen this year, I find it hard to believe that Madrid can win the title, but they are still in there

As for Barca, they are good enough to win it, especially when REM (Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Messi) are on song, but their defense could cost them everything, while Sevilla and Valencia seem to suffer from stage fright every time they have the chance to stamp some authority on things!

If Madrid are to have a chance they need to start winning at home and that means beating Nastic next week. On paper it looks easy, but Nastic, although second from bottom, are hitting a bit of form.

They have now won their last two games and are unbeaten in 4, so maybe it won't be the walkover many expect, especially given the problems Madrid seem to have in front of their own fans..

A big plus point is that Javier Portillo can't play against them: the former Madrid striker is in a fine vein of form at the moment with goals against Athletic and Sevilla in his last two games. However a clause in his contract means he will have to watch the game on TV rather than play.

The even sadder news is that he won't have Worldsport HD at home unlike you lucky people!

See you there
