    ADVERTS 1
I have read most of the review on the azbox so I might have missed this part if I did just let know and I will start reading again.

Now my ?. I have one RJ45 port on my computer and a three foot cable, so I must move that box to computer to load sat list. I have tried AZedit and Maz but they will not connect to the box. can I get some info on this . if need to leave it at the tv I will buy a 60 foot cable but I do what to.

    Thanks guys

A "Cross-Over" Cable is a special cable used to connect 2 "computers" without the use of a Hub.
Do you have a Hub or Router that your Computer normally connects to?

Edit: Also, don't forget that "you" must turn the FTP Services "On" in the AZBox's "Settings: Network Setup Menu"

If you're not using a hub or switch, you'll need a cable with the transmit and receive lines reversed on one end. (Unless either your PC or the AZbox auto-senses the cable configuration, but I DON'T think that that's specified for Ethernet stations.)

How will IP addresses work in this crossover cable situation? In the absence of a DHCP server a Windows PC will give itself a 169.254.X.X address. Will the Azbox do so as well?

Hi Gremlin and the group, because the AZBOX offers some interesting network ability you might want to consider hooking it up to a router. If you do not have a router they are not very expensive and can add some security for your computer (they can make for a good firewall)

Some thing to consider is moving the cable or DSL modem and router near the TV and if you bought a wireless router you could still use your computer even if it is in another room.

    Got to run, DC

I do not have a hub or a router. Do I have to have one?
ok I will turn on FTP in the menu.
so I guess I will try to find a "cross" over cable.
How do you find the IP of the AZbox?

Sorry guys I am new to these loader and do not understand them yet.

I bought a linksys router and a wireless card for computer and the router is a piece of junk. I guess the card good.

How do you connect to the internet? If you have DSL, chances are that your modem has a router built in.

Your linksys might be junk wifi and still have a usable hardwire LAN connection.

And no you don't have to have one.
    "I tried that once"
