Problems with Internet and Digital Phone

    ADVERTS 1
I have Brighthouse Networks for my Internet and Digital Phone services. I have had it for a year or more and have never had any trouble out of it until now. I subscribe to the 15 Meg/2 Meg internet speed package. It has always been super fast and runs about 17MB down up until a month ago. I am lucky if my internet hits 3 MB down now and my phone keeps popping and going in and out.

I called them this past Sunday and they has so far sent two techs out who have done nothing but ran trace routes to yahoo.com and google.com. They keep saying that it is the servers in Birmingham that are screwing up. And that only about 20 people or so in my city have the 'Turbo Speed' of 15MB down and that they have had problems and no one is actually getting 15MB. I told them ever since I have had the 15MB speed I have never had any trouble of it until about a month ago. The odd thing is my brother-in-law lives across the street from me. He has the exact same problems with slow internet and popping in his phone. We use the same tap from the same pole.

The question I have is do any of you think it has something to do with our tap at the pole or do you think it is really something to do with the Birmingham servers?

    Good luck Saturday

BTW the best bet is for you and your neighbor who have the problem to keep complaining until its gets escalated to someone who knows what they are doing.

i haven't had full turbo speed in the 6 months i've had turbo. after running traces, diagnostics on my modem, etc., they say it has to be a bad cable. we'll see what happens when the tech comes monday morning! if i could find another internet provider, i would have left dimhouse months ago.

hey, if I'm paying $41.95 a month for Earthlink highspeed what kind of speed should I be getting? everything I see on the website points to 7mbps starting at $29.95. but Iget slightly less than 7. I don't want to call a tech and sound dumb on the phone. also my cable modem is more than 5 years old. would that make a difference?

Whats "slightly less"? 6? If your getting that, it's not that bad especially during prime time surfing.

Keep in mind, they don't guarantee a full 7mb. Read it closer it says "up to". Typical word play.
