Ah thanks. So the HBO GO subscription is different from Netflix because of the "must have HBO" part, and there is no similar prerequisite with getting netflix?

However, do I understand correctly, that even if you DO have HBO, you cannot get HBO GO through the roku? Or am I still confused?

Maybe still confused. You can get HBO GO on the Roku, but not with your TV provider.

First, separate HBO GO from everything else on Roku. Now separate who your internet provider is.
No matter who your internet provider is, while there may be limits to how much data you can stream in a month, they are not blocking programming to the Roku, that includes Roadrunner, or Charter, Fios, ATT, or whoever.

Now to get HBO GO you have to subscribe to HBO. Whoever you have for a TV provider that you get HBO from then has to have an agreement with HBO to allow you to watch HBO GO on the Roku. Most all allow you to get HBO GO on your computer or mobile device, but some do not have an agreement to allow you to sign up on the Roku for it. You have to verify you subscribe to a provider that has that agreement before you get HBO GO on the Roku. So for instance Dish Network allows you to watch on a Roku. Direct TV does not.........

Other programming for the most part is not the same on a Roku. Some is very similar. For instance to watch Amazon movies you have to have an Amazon account. But to watch Al Jeezera, or Euronews, or hundreds of other programs, you just add it and watch it.

For now we do not support the Roku device with our implementation of HBO GO.

Over the years I've checked in this site on and off maybe 10 times.
I never fail to see the constant posts of this op. Complain. complain,
complain. That is what you do. Move on, will ya?
When someone talks about philosophical cable tv freedoms, be afraid. Be very
    afraid.
The time and years you put in to just this site alone. WTF is wrong with you?
You have a principal about that one brown spec on the bananas in Publix too?

What do you know the Xbox 360 HBO GO app was released today. A ton of companies to choose from guess which company isn't one of them. This HBO Go lite that Brigthouse claims to offer is a joke.

There is HBO OD (on Demand) and HBO Go. HBO OD has a much LESS content than HBO Go. HBO OD is available directly through most cable and satellite providers. HBO Go is available (with a subscription to HBO on you cable or satellite system) via computer and many other devices DEPENDING ON THE CABLE AND SATELLITE SYSTEM.
THERE= a place. not here - THEIR= belongs to them - THEY'RE = short for "They Are". THEN = a point in time; not now. - THAN = used to compare things.
