So close to getting high speed internet, but yet so far.

    ADVERTS 1
I'm still stuck with dial-up internet, which was a hit 15 years ago and now should only be in our history books. Not for me anyway

Anyway we have a neighbor that lives across the road and he is a half-mile at the most directly across the corn field. AND HE HAS ROADRUNNER!

I wish I could connect to him, but I wouldn't know how.

My address is 1226 South Preble County Line Rd, West Alexandria, OH 45381.

I checked out connectohio.org and of course they show my address to be unavailable to get high speed internet.

My address on that site for some reason is different. It is shown as 1226 South Preble County Line Rd, New Lebanon, OH 45345.

I really don't want to get sat internet, but that is my only option right now.

You need to do some searching to see where cable is available at in your area.

Look on the poles and see whats up there, once you can find a cable connection then its a matter of getting the service to your house!

Verizon is our home phone provider and I've called them several times and checked online for their high speed internet, and guess what?? Not available to us.

Time Warner is the cable provider in our area, but it does not go down this road. The neighbor guy who gets it lives on a another road called Germantown rd.
Our road is Preble County Line Rd.

If you get along with your neighbor ask them if you can pay to have a 2nd connection installed at their home.

Then establish a point to point wireless link between your home and theirs. it should be very easy to do with 2 directional antennas.

this is a good place to get the equipment and they can help you decide exactly what you need and how to set it up

    Fleeman, Anderson & Bird, Corp.

there are others out there also, I just have dealt with them and happen to like them. I have been successful in establishing links up to 5 miles.

    Good luck

Have you considered Sprint's Mobile Broadband?

I live very near to you and have the same problem - No DSL or cable option. I'm using Sprint's Mobile Broadband and am happy with the results. It isn't DSL speed but MUCH better than dial up and I think it is better than satellite. I get just over 1 mb speed. They have a modem that plugs into the USB port.
