    My LONG Standing problem resolved!

    ADVERTS 1
Have finally resolved an intermittent problem on my system that I've been futzing with for well over a year!

Symptoms: About 4 or 5 times a week - usually mid to late afternoon - I would completely lose my HN signal (went to 0). Would last for about 2 hours or so.

What didn't work: Everything (and I mean just about everything).

Final fix: While doing my annual fall house maintenance I happened to be caulking around the eaves. Discovered a very small kink in the RG6 where it turned a corner. Cut that section out and sliced it open. Apparently, the internal copper core was cut from the bend and when the sun directly hit that section it would expand due to the heat and break the connection. When it cooled - it fell back into place. Hence the intermittent problem.

Has been a week now - no problems!

    Was that wierd or what?

You are right - I need to track down the original installer and thank him profusely for saving himself about 1/2 of 1 cent of RG6 cable by pulling it so tight around the corner.

It's no wonder that many folks (myself included) now do all of our own sat work.
