Tri - Lnb setup ADVERTS
Just thought I'd show you Guys what I did to my 8 ft solid Channel Master BUD. I mounted the extra C-band lnb on it yesterday, the two lnb's are aimed at the 91.0°w and 103.0°w and both are pulling in excellent QS. Today I mounted a Ku linear lnbf in between the two for the 97.0°w Ku sat. It's getting 98% QS on 11842 H 22000 3/4, much better than my 90cm dishes.

Very nice! ...and bonus points for squeezing a Ku LNB in between 'em!

Thanks Guys! kbghdg, it was actually easier than I expected, it was more of a shot in the dark with a lot of guesstimating and after I mounted the scalar ring (the 91w lnb) I bent it down a tad for the curvature of the reflector and stuck in the lnb, hooked it up and there it was. I didn't do any tweaking whatsoever, I'm afraid to fool around with it, you know how that goes, right? This 8 ft Channel Master dish is excellent and so easy to pull in good signals but my 10.5 ft mesh is a mush! I'm having a lot of trouble getting a good signal on anything except for the 99w & 101w strong TP's.

Cool!
Is there any plans to add even more lnb's. Or is that about it. I always wondered if something like this would work. Especially for the western (cable type) channel arc. No more need for a dish mover. Like from 123° to 135° would be cool.
But everyone said you need a 40 foot dish shaped like a para-sail.

Well, I didn't spend a lot of time trying to squeeze in more with the dish set straight on the 103W and I guess I was lucky to place the 91W lnb so far as it is, 12° is a long stretch and I imagine if I can go 12° to the east I can do the same to the west but there isn't anything I could get from the west side within 16° of the 103W.
My location in So Cal is on the fringe of the nearby sats neighboring on the west. And then the one's on the east side are either too far or too close for a possible fit to the existing mountings. Now if I were to swing the dish to the east I'd have to redo all the work and might not get much. My goal was to get the 91W & 103W C-band sats and I did. The 97W Ku was just an afterthought and it worked. I don't know yet if I can pick up any Ku sats from the western sky, I would try for the 121W and 125W but I think the dish is parked in a position too far east for those. This stuff takes time and I have a few other dishes that can fill the order with expansion. I'm going to try a C-band lnb and a Ku lnbf on a 90cm KTI dish later. I'll aim for the 121W C-band and 125W Ku signals.Last edited by McGuyver; 03-12-2010 at 11:04 PM.
