Ground loop hum ADVERTS 1
Ugh - this is getting old.
My SA8300 has hummed since day 1. It's REALLY annoying. It doesn't hum over the optical audio output (group loop broken).
I just picked up a Tivo and hooked it up to Cox cable directly (analog cable) - guess what? Hummmmmmm
I checked the grounding block outside and it is in place and grounded.
I'm not real thrilled about having to buy a piece of hardware to go between my TV and the reciever, but is this my only option?
The DVD player, PS2 and my FTA box are connected to the same TV and are plugged into the same power strip. I get no hum on these.
I might try un-hooking the Tivo from Cox to see if the hum goes away...
On the SA8300 it's just 'audio' hum
On the Tivo I hear the hum and I see the black/grey bars scaning up the picture.

I found a good write-up on ground loop hum.

I'm going to give some of the tips a shot and see where I get with it.

update...
Not really a fix, but got rid of the SA8300 and replaced the power strip with a UPS for all the AV components. Now I have no audio or video hum on the Tivo.
It must have been the power strip.
