The intent is there, the meaning is obvious, they "get away with it" on a technicality.
Well, it initially struck me as odd at the beginning of the series, and in the original series in the 70's, it was rarely used, but in this version, the "kk" variation of the word has been used in every possible context as the real word, but the real word has never been used until tonight. A "technicality" is a bit of a stretch... I think they just got away with it.

I liked the flashbacks. Gave us some more depth and insight to the characters...who/why they are the way they are. What drives/motivates them. What touches them. The hanger-deck scene was huge (and I'm not talking just scale either). That scene is a gut-puncher. It hits hard and it just keeps on hitting. Watching Adama stop Cottlle is a huge moment. Watching the F5 go across, Caprica...and then Roslyn, and Kara helping her stand and they lock hands. This is real life, real people, real pain and commitment.

I don't know or really care what the blogosphere pees about. This was a terrific setup episode for the ending.

Even if they got away with the technicality.... its not broadcast tv, so they wouldn't be sanctioned by the FCC the way CBS or ABC would.

Anyways... while I am waiting very much for next Friday, I am expecting to be a little disappointed; I just think they have not used their time as well as they could. The majority of the Caprica stuff seemed not essential to the story to me. I know Moore didn't want to end up with a series gasping for creative ideas like STTNG did in season 7, but this show was NOT out of creative ideas; and the same story they are telling could be told with a bit more greater depth if spread over 5 real seasons.

I know, irrelevant at this point, but in many ways think its the fans that are getting fracked by Sci-Fi's unwillingness to run full seasons, and to spread out a story with little nibbles every six or nine months.

Lots to be resolved, in less than 2 real hours of tv.

I still think the ending will create more questions than it answers. I really didn't see the story progress last night, just regress to flashbacks.

A few thoughts from the flashbacks...
    1. Baltar's Dad knew him like a book and Baltar hasn't changed...
    2. Caprica showed compassion again by finding Baltar's Dad a place he would like to finish out however long left he had to live(like the Mini-Series when she broke the Baby's neck)
    3. Laura's life sucked before the attack also... I half expected Baltar to have been the one that ran into her Family's Car...
    4. The sky view of Caprica we will see again (It has happened before... )

Many of life's mysteries are not supposed to be definitively answered including the big ones like 'why are we here'. We (they) will never truly know who or what is pulling these often talked about strings. My guess is that the show will say it is God or the Gods and that mere mortals cannot truly know what his/their grand design is nor are they supposed to. It's not going to be some mortal entity that pops out and says 'surprise'. Considering how big a role religion plays in this show this kind of ending would not surprise me... and personally I think its the right one. It ties into the parts about Baltar questioning why God wants humanity to suffer. It wont be satisfying for those that want to be told all the answers but then life is like that. I just hope they dont do some kind of 'first ones' explanation like saying the gods were vorlons in disguise.

Since I brought it up... can anyone truly tell me me why we are all here?
