All my channels are now widescreen!!!

My 4250HD cablebox rebooted last night and now all my standard channels, Howard Stern onDemand, and Starz/Encore Ondemand are Widescreen! What the hell??? I powered down the box and held the guide and info buttons to go into the cablebox resolution menu and verified that everything is correct. I rebooted the box again but there is nothing I can do to get back to standard 4:3. My Starz and Encore onDemand channels already looked bad on my 42' HD TV and now they look even worse. Anyone else experience this? I really appreciate any replies.

Check what the picture format is set at by hitting the settings button on the remote, it could be set to stretch or zoom instead of normal. If that doesn't fix it then make sure your TV isn't stretching or zooming.

Thanks for the reply but that was not it. My box malfunctioned. I turned my box off and pulled the card out....then booted my box up without the card inside. I then powered down the box again and put the card back in and booted up and everything was back to normal.
