Telstar 7 is no more....

Well if your experiencing some trouble getting some of your channels there is a good chance it is because telstar 7 is out of commision. As of 11/28/04 at 10:30am est. This according Loral Skynet who is the owner of Telstar 7. All programing will probably be put on Telstar 6...

This affects Starband clusters 2, 50 and 189.

I just got off the phone with customer service for Starband. He said 20,000 affected customers or 1/2 of their customer base is down. I see one huge headache for Starband. I too am back to dial-up for now.

The COO of Intelsat has declared Intelsat Americas 7 a loss. All C-Band customers are being moved immediately and permanently to Intelsat Americas 13 at 121° W longitude. Customers using transponder 22 will now move to transponder 6. Transponder 20 customers will remain on 20. To assist in your transition, our backhaul will remain unencrypted until Tuesday, November 30, 5:00 PM EST. The technical information for the backhaul is listed here.
