Charter DVR External Hard Drive Support?

    ADVERTS 1
I have a friend that wants to know if Charter's dvr supports an external hard drive. I think he has a Motorola box. If it does, does it override the original hard drive like Directv or does it give you extra storage like Dish?
I had Charter about 5 years ago ( yea, I don't know why either ) but have no clue what is going on with them these days.

There is no external hard drive support for Motorola receivers. If he has a Scientific Atlanta,he might be able to hook an external hard drive to it.

    moto hd pvr

not quite right. the moto dct 3416 hd pvr used by shaw cable has a 160 gig internal hd. and also an enabled esata interface for extenal drive. I am using a 1TB WD cavair green hd housed in a NxStar CX 3. inclosure . it works great. recorded 26 hrs of movie in it and is only 6% full.

The U.S. boxes haven't had their ports activated by their respective Cable companies(at least as far as Charter goes) to be able to use external hard drives. The only thing you can do is ask your local Charter office if your box can be enabled for external hard drive.
