Whirlpool Bites Hands Of American Taxpayers That Feed It

    ADVERTS 1
Last week, over 52,000 people signed a petition to Whirlpool with a clear message: Don't take millions in taxpayer dollars and then send 1,100 jobs to Mexico. Keep it made in America, and Fix Our Jobs!

Today, local workers, labor leaders, and AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka are personally delivering that petition to Whirlpool's management in Evansville, Indiana.

We're backing up these on-the-ground efforts with a massive, national show of force. Can you help flood Whirlpool with phone calls TODAY while workers in Evansville march, protest, and deliver these petitions?

It's easy, to get involved, here's how:

1.Call Whirlpool Corp. toll free right now at 1-800-705-7083.

2.Tell the person who picks up the phone something like this: "Don't close the Evansville refrigerator plant. Keep it made in America and save our jobs!" The call will probably end there, but you can add:

•Despite enjoying healthy profits and getting more than $19 million in federal economic recovery funds, Whirlpool plans to start closing its Evansville, Ind., refrigerator plant on March 26.

•Whirlpool will ship production of these refrigerators to Mexico, spelling the loss of 1,100 good, local jobs.

•The pain of the plant closing will be felt not just by the working families that lose jobs but also by local businesses, congregations, and community organizations.

•Whirlpool isn't just abandoning its workers. It's abandoning Evansville.

3.Afterwards, help spread the word on Facebook and sign the AFL-CIO's Twitter petition, to encourage your friends, family members, and co-workers to take action too!
When companies take our tax dollars and turn around and send our jobs overseas, it strikes at the heart of fundamental American values. As taxpayers, we're furious.

Whirlpool knows better. They wish the bad publicity would just go away – which is why they're trying to scare their workers out of marching today and making their voices heard.

But they can't silence their workers anymore than they can silence us. We're picking up the phone right now and calling Whirlpool. Will you join us? If enough of us around the country speak out TODAY, our collective voice will be too powerful to ignore.

Call Whirlpool Corp. toll free right now at 1-800-705-7083 and tell them: "Don't close the Evansville refrigerator plant. Keep It Made in America and Save Our Jobs."

Thanks for all you do to defend workers' rights.
Some people have to much time on their hands.

Best wishes but truly companies are in business to make money.

And no doubt whirlpool will still have at least a couple american plants.

Did you know that much of the stimulus money for wind turbines is going overseas? just leaving construction jobs here

Ok while theres nothing wrong with making money there's a problem with companies who are already making a good profit taking tax payer money and then cutting jobs in this country to send the work to a foreign country where the labor is cheap and the cost to build over all is cheap.

For now but for how long, the lure of cheap labor and cheap production costs is a strong aphrodisiac for gluttony specially when there are little to no tax penalties on American products produced outside of the country.

Much of the alternative energy products are made overseas specially in Germany where solar panels reign supreme but if the companies over there are putting people to work here then where is the problem with that at? Would you balk at working for Honda BMW KIA or Toyota here simply because the company headquarters is based in a foreign land?
