    Comcast HD box to XP

    ADVERTS 1
Hello, I have a Windows XP computer hooked up to my HDTV and a Comcast HD box. The box is a DHC model with no DVR. I was wondering if there is any way to interface the box with my computer. I see usb ports, ethernet, and a few others.

My second question is my wife picked up a second HD box but the payment centers in our area (south of boston) said they only had models with DVR (DHC3416). Could I buy a box off ebay? Would it work or does it have to be a specific model? I spoke to Comcast over the phone and the rep. said I could buy one but Comcast would not service it. Is this true?

No. The USB and Ethernet ports are disabled. You can only get power off the USB port.

No. Comcast will not activate the box.

Yes. The rep spoke the truth. Comcast does not activate boxes they do not own. If the one you are buying from eBay is from someone in the US there is a high likelyhood that it was stolen from a cable operator since none sell the Moto boxes to consumers here. You could buy one from Canada and it wouldn't be stolen, but Comcast still won't activate it.
