    comcast receiver

    ADVERTS 1
    Hi Guys,

I want to know if i can connect the box and will not have any consequences?
I will tell you in detail.

I used to have comcast cable and Internet. Later i decided to upgrade to HD Cable, so there guy came and gave me a HD receiver, but he did not take the digital cable receiver. After using the HD for couple of years i decided to disconnect the HD cable and keep the Internet with few basic channels which don't need the receiver to watch. There technical guys came at my home, took the HD box and went outside and connected some sort of filter in the line, so that i can only get the Internet and few basic channels.
Now today i have connected the digital receiver (which i was using 3 years ago), to the line and i can get all the comcast channels. I know it is not right, but i want to know is there any way they will find it out, that the receiver is connected to the line and i am watching the channels without subscribing it. If so what will be the consequences?

    Thanks

They'll find out there is a receiver attached to the line since it does communicate with the comcast system and they'll just shut it off

In addition, depending on the local cable system, they will likely send a letter asking for the box to be returned.

You can bet that box is still on your account. Surprised they haven't charged you for it yet.

Are you sure they put a filter on your line? Sounds like you could only receive the analog channels without the digital box. As Ice said above the boxes do communicate two-way, so don't expect it to last long.

Yep. You can subscribe to a digital tier. The basic digital probably isn't much more than the analog basic you are currently subscribed to.

BTW, this is getting dangerously close to a theft of service discussion, and that is against the user agreement you signed.

Ok, just few hours now, and i have decided to disconnect it, i don't want to do a theft, so i will buy the subscription instead of stealing the signals.
    Thanks guys for the help.
