dvr connect
ADVERTS 1
Hi guys,
I need your help. I have comcast digital receiver and have basic digital connection. Recently i got a comcast dvr from my friend. Is there any way i can use the dvr without informing the comcast for that?
I just want to have the dvr feature of that box, is there any way i can connect my digital receiver to this dvr receiver, and record the shows?
Thanks

NO.
Long list of how that's not going to work.
Authorization. Unit has to be authorized on the physical cable it's connected to.
DVR feature has to be authorized.
Channel maps are authorized. Also known as channel packages.
All authorizations have a timeout period. Most of the unit will stop working after that point.
At that point just enjoy your power-sucking paperweight to watch what analog channels you have.
Also, most cable boxes that are sold are stolen or are from delinquent accounts.
Comcast refuses to authorize those units.

You should just return the box. It's on someones account and they still owe for it.
