could i use a linksys wireless ethernet bridge connected to linksys wireless access point to make a wifi repeater?

i could change the ssid of the wap and set the bridge to connect to my existing wifi router.

it would then take the data from my dsl router and repeat the signal to get more range? change the ip address scheme on the access point so it is out of range of my existing wifi
