How can I put my videos on my Iphone?

I have some short videos, most are between 30 seconds to a minute long that I made using my digital camera. When I transfer the pictures from my camera to my PC, the videos go into the same folder that the pictures go into. But when I sync my photos to my IPhone the videos do not sync with them. I noticed the videos have an AVI extension. Is there anything I can do to get the videos to sync? I have the box "sync videos" checked in iTunes but they still don't sync.

The iPhone uses h.264 format so any program that can convert to that should work.

I use handbrake to convert video's for the iphone. It works really well and is free also

I use Leawo i-Pod converter for my iPad, works fine. I could not get Handbrake to work.
