Speed
ADVERTS 1
I dl'd the new UI about two weeks ago and just got rid of it. While the guide was super fast, the searches and just about everything else were much slower. Also, while the lettering was sharp, the GI was not as comfortable to work with. I did give it a two week try. Hoping they will inprove speed before NR or make this optional.

I have always noticed , that when your hard drive gets filled or close to it , your reciever will get sluggish , I try to keep my DVR'S cleaned at a minimummnumber of shows and they seem to run smoother....

I noticed this as well and put a 2TB drive on there to help prevent it.

I use
Amazon.com: Thermaltake BlacX eSATA USB Docking Station: Electronics

Far better than any external drive I've used. Power cycles are no issue since the box is always on so the drive spools up the second the power comes back on. Many external drives have their own power button that needs to be hit before it spools back up.
