I just finished installing the latest CE for the HR-34. I've noticed a huge difference already in menu speeds, guide speeds, etc. So far so good, but it's still early

Give it 24 -48 hours and see how it's going.

Well, I spoke to soon. Same issue that I've always had. I press the Guide button and it takes up to 10 seconds to come up, absolutely ridiculous.

If I press Exit prior to pressing Guide it comes up almost instantly. I get the same thing when pressing List as well. I really hope the HD GUI will fix this issue, it's really annoying.
